Expert Analysis
Bobby Lopez | Prep Hoops Scout
Banister is becoming one of the more intriguing underclassmen to watch for Falcon, and his summer showcase performances only reinforced that. He logged quality minutes against strong competition, showing the poise and confidence you want in a young guard. His ball handling is calm and controlled, his decision making continues to sharpen and he’s already proven he can score. What makes him stand out is how comfortable he looks initiating the offense and creating plays that elevate his team. With another full season to gain valuable playing minutes ahead, his development curve should climb fast. Banister has all the ingredients to make some noise heading into his sophomore year

Banister had a strong summer, showing flashes of the scorer he’s capable of becoming. His ability to attack the basket with confidence, deliver precise passes and create opportunities off steals made him a constant threat on the court. He puts pressure on defenses, using his speed and instincts to break down opponents and generate easy looks for himself and teammates. While his scoring potential is evident continued development could turn him into a consistent offensive force. Combining playmaking, defensive anticipation and the ability to drive to the rim, Banister demonstrated this summer why he’s a player to watch and why he’s on the cusp of climbing the rankings list

Banister showed two-way versatility, defending bigger players while also handling primary ball-handling duties. He slashed to the rim, hit floaters, and knocked down perimeter shots. His communication on defense and ability to run the floor gave his team balance. Remaining aggressive offensively will be key as his skillset makes him a tough, versatile guard to game plan against. Liked what he showed at the event.

Banister has bounce, burst, and a scorer’s mindset, which bodes well in a showcase setting. He’s a wing who gets to his spots and finishes tough around the basket. You can tell he’s wired to compete, and he shows flashes of making plays off the dribble. I would love to see him go head-to-head in a showcase setting because he plays with confidence and swagger, and it’s time to see how he stacks up among his peers statewide.

Banister saw limited action as a freshman for Falcon, appearing in just three games and averaging 3.3 points and 1 rebound per contest. However, his growth over the summer has been evident, and he’s emerging as a promising two way guard with a well rounded skill set. Offensively, Banister has shown the ability to create off the dribble—using his handle and vision to either get into his shot or find open teammates. He’s effective in the midrange, where he elevates with confidence, and he’s steadily improving from beyond the arc, showing signs of developing into a reliable perimeter shooter. Defensively, Banister brings a relentless mindset. He competes on every possession and uses sound technique and disciplined footwork to stay in front of his man. His energy on both ends and his growing confidence as a playmaker make him a guard to keep a close eye on as he continues to develop
