About John

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I sprint from rim to rim looking for opportunities to impact the game. My mission is relentless rebounding, effective screens, annoying shot blocks, and big points. I was named the most improved player on the team my freshman and sophomore years, and I continue to get stronger and faster.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm a 10 on the extrovert scale, super friendly, and always positive.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Our church youth group, camping adventures, fly fishing, and pickleball keep me well-rounded.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I volunteer for youth basketball programs to help and inspire young boys.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The academic workload at Covington Catholic has been challenging, especially in Honors and AP classes. Balancing schoolwork with basketball is teaching me the virtue of studiousness.

What type of college are you looking for?

A challenge both academically and athletically.

A possible X Factor in for one of the top state title contenders this season, John moves up 17 spots from 99th to 82nd. Brecount has improved considerably every time I’ve seen him play and does not shy away from physical contact. On a Cov Cath team that lacks a really strong inside presence, the big man could provide exactly that and be a big difference maker this season.
