The D1 Minnesota 3SSB forward potential wing is impressive with strength and size at this age already, and he showed he could handle his own in the front-court last season against older and more mature opponents. Washington in this 5v5 game grabbed a rebound on the second possession and took the ball the distance for a left-hand lay in. The following possession another defensive rebounded and he hit an uncontested pull-up 3-pointer. All summer I witnessed Washington put on a display of 3&D potential looking up opponents and then drilling corner triples. Washington was pretty dominant in this match-up scoring at will off the dribble, even making heavily contested 3-pointers.

Another high potential player, Washington was at the rim scoring all day long. Three on three, five on five, transition, halfcourt, it didn’ matter, Washington was physically moving through the defense without issue.

Jerrell was flat-out dominant in 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 action at the freshman showcase, demonstrating his ability to score at all three levels. At 6’2″ with a strong frame, he bullies defenders on his way to the basket, consistently getting easy layups. On the perimeter, he takes advantage of smaller defenders by shooting right over them, while also using his handle and speed to get past defenders his size or bigger. Jerrell joins an MPLS North program that is looking to reestablish itself as a Minnesota basketball powerhouse.

Washington is a consistent rebounder and defender and could make an immediate impact with North this season.

Washington length creates problems as well in passing lanes getting deflections and steals. Washington is a solid rebounder and doesn’t shy away from playing inside around the rim. Offensively Washington’s lateral agility and perimeter shooting make him a guy you can leave alone.

Jerrell continues to impress this spring, as he looks like a top-10 player in the state’s incoming freshman class. He has a strong 6’2” frame, which allows him to be effective inside and on the perimeter. He was at his best on drives to the basket, being able to finish with power or finesse. Washington will attend Minneapolis North for his freshman season.

Jerrell has all the makings of a top five player in the state’s incoming freshman class, as he already has good size and the athleticism to make an impact in many different ways. He used his strong 6’4” frame to work inside where he could finish with either hand. The wing prospect can also stretch the floor with his shooting, knocking down open looks from three. Washington will likely have the chance to impact at the varsity level at Minneapolis North.
