There is a ton of potential in Henry that we are looking forward to following the next four seasons. The modern game loves a stretch four with a pretty touch and the agility to both move on defense and score on the move (with or without the ball). We saw Henry score inside plus rebound, but when we saw him hit a trail three and then follow that with a ball screen into a catch and make at the arc off the screen, that is what we knew that his young man is even higher level than a ranking of eight.

Long term prospect wise, Henry could be near the top of the list and someday be at the top of the list. Henry is 6’7 with length, agility and skill, a lot of skill. Henry has a touch out to the arc and he has good body control. The two things he needs are core strength that will come with maturity and time on the court. When those things come, Henry has the foundation of a guy that is the modern day stretch forward at the high major level.

I already mentioned Henry in my “top performers” article, so I don’t need to go too deep into detail here, but he’s a very intriguing long-term prospect. You don’t find a lot of guys with his length and fluid athleticism, particularly at a young age. Things just looked effortless at times as he showed a smooth jumper from three, above-the-rim athleticism in the open floor, and the work-rate to dominate on the glass. One of the best current players and long-term prospects I saw on Sunday.

Henry Hanzel Henry Hanzel 6'6" | SF Jordan | 2030 State MN made a loud introduction to the Minnesota basketball scene for those who didn’t know him on Sunday morning/afternoon. The 6’6″ wing scores effortlessly, possessing a pretty shooting stroke and range that allows him to torch defenses from behind the arc. He also possesses elite athleticism, which allowed him to get all the way to the rim for flashy dunks and high percentage finishes at the rim. Hanzel will be a name to watch out of Jordan High School, where he is shaping up to be a high-level college prospect.

Henry is such an intriguing long-term prospect. He already stands at 6’6 with a very long frame, and moves with fluidity on the ball. Henry was comfortably pulling up for threes over the top of defenders, and was finishing above the rim with ease in the open floor. Really good coordination and balance for a young forward at his size. He played through contact around the rim, scoring with efficiency inside-and-out. On the defensive end he made an impact as a shot blocker, and had no problem moving his feet with smaller wings as most teams didn’t have a player his size to match up with.

Henry Hanzel Henry Hanzel 6'6" | SF Jordan | 2030 State MN is a six-foot-six-inch forward that played Varsity at Jordan as an 8th grader and played D1 Minnesota 3SSB this past spring and summer. Hanzel has good length that enables him to play inside and outside on the defensive side of the court. The length enables him to alter or block shots, deflect passes and create incidents. Offensively Hanzel has the ability to shoot from the perimeter and can work as a driver to the basket.

Henry Hanzel – Hanzel is a six-foot-six-inch 2030 wing from Jordan where he started on Varsity as an 8th grader. Hanzel has ability to shoot from the perimeter, and good length to defend opponents at the rim. Hanzel is still growing into his body developing and as he gets stronger and more mature he could be a tough player to guard especially if he develops his ball handling more.

Henry was a little quieter shooting the ball from three than I had hoped, but you can still see the boatload of upside that he offers as a 6’2” 13U wing prospect. He has Hoop Habits Elite 13U 2-0 right now and I’ll be watching Hanzel tomorrow to see if he can turn up things offensively. The skill and shooting stroke are definitely there, he just hasn’t gotten them to fall quite yet.

I actually wasn’t able to see Hanzel live and some BallerTV film wasn’t able to be recorded, so I didn’t see Hoops Habits Elite 13U play. But I did do my due diligence and decided to not leave a couple of their deserving players off of the all-tournament team.
