Expert Analysis
Jack Pfeiffer | Prep Hoops Scout
Carter has solid size for his age, but impressed with his ability to create and handle the ball in the perimeter. He was at his best when working in transition, being able to run the floor and make plays around the basket. Neutz has a lanky 6’3” frame and can move very well, bringing versatility as a defender.

is a very promising big man. At 6-foot-3 with a solid frame, he makes his presence felt on the court. He is strong on the block and does an excellent job of establishing position for entry passes, which he converts into baskets with his soft touch around the rim. Where Carter impressed me most this weekend was on the defensive end. He moves his feet exceptionally well for his size, allowing him to stay in front of both post players and guards. His height, length, and timing enable him to contest and block shots at a high rate, making him a disruptive presence in the paint. Carter has all the tools to be a productive player at the high school level.

was a consistent presence in the paint throughout the weekend, asserting himself as a productive interior big. He displays strong offensive positioning, creating clean angles for guards to deliver entry passes. Once he establishes position, Neutz finishes with purpose, keeping the ball high and tight while converting efficiently around the rim with soft touch. Carter also impacts the game on the glass, remaining active on both the offensive and defensive boards. As his jump shot continues to develop, Neutz has the potential to become an even more dynamic interior threat and a true difference-maker in the post.

Neutz is a big body who can stretch the floor. He handles well at his size and has great ball security. He keeps the ball above his head when in the paint and shoots it with a high release point, allowing him to score over the top of the defense. Neutz runs the floor well and can finish through traffic efficiently. Physicality and correct positioning make Neutz a talented defender, too.

Carter is the toughness, most impactful, and go-to scorer and finisher for D1 Minnesota 2030 Gold— who were runner-up finishers. Not an elite athlete, as he doesn’t possess a strong vertical, but he consistently grabs boards on both ends and finishes in the paint off of the glass.

D1 Minnesota 2030 Gold reached the Championship game and came up as 13U runner-ups, and Carter was the main guy for them, with his versatility and ability to do it all on the court. He doesn’t have elite skill with the ball, but he puts the ball in the hoop as an inside finisher and can keep defenses honest with a jumper. He did most of his damage near the hoop and as a cutter, finding openings for catch-and-score buckets. Doesn’t need to dribble the air out of the ball to score. One of the top 13U players in terms of efficiency and overall impact on the game. Defensively, he’s a major presence as well. Can defend the post at a high level and attacks the ball and rips down boards. Played with a grit and toughness and was all over the court, routinely coming up with the ball then making a positive play. He was dominant in the win over MN Falcons 13U.
