Kannon Axdahl the #2 overall 2030 freshman in Minnesota currently played the 3v3 sessions and the one 5v5 before he had to leave early for Fall League games for Eastview so I didn’t get to watch him live much Sunday. The six-foot-six-inch D1 Minnesota 3SSB wing however made his presence felt when I watched back the 5v5 game he did play and I didn’t count stats but it really seemed like he may have had a double double on points and rebounds. Axdahl possesses an incredible skillset for a freshman and I got a front-row seat most of the spring and summer watching him play. Axdahl is the unique player that can play defense in the interior blocking shots and grabbing boards and playing on the perimeter on offense, but not only as a shooter. Axdahl can put the ball on the deck and drive by center’s and forward’s, or if they stay in front finish over them with an array of short-range skill shots. Throughout the summer with D1 Minnesota Axdahl would bring the ball up the court starting the offense himself, dishing off, or do grab and goes. Grab a record, a steal, or block a shot and collect and lead a one-man fastbreak coast-to-coast for a score.

Both present day and as a long-term prospect, you could make an argument for Kannon as #1 in the 2030 class. He had to leave after his first game to play in fall league for Eastview, but that was all it took for him to make an impression. He was lights out from three in the 3v3 game that I watched, draining four or five shots from deep with a smooth release. During the 5v5 portion he took full advantage of his physical tools, dominating the game in the paint. Kannon could step in from the dunker spot to finish, was dangerous off the pick & roll, and could also take opposing forwards off the dribble from the wing. Showcased impressive explosiveness by throwing down a powerful two handed dunk off an up-and-under move in the 2nd half.

Kannon Axdahl is a six-foot-six-inch 2030 Eastview wing that played Varsity as an 8th grader. The D1 Minnesota 3SSB wing showed off impressive two-way skill and the way basketball is going. Offensively perimeter oriented but able to play inside as well and a good interior defender who can protect the rim. Axdahl over the course of the spring and summer displayed the ability to bring the ball up the court and run an offense through himself. Axdahl has steps to take as a creator and an offensive engine for others, he however showed ability to create shots off the dribble, play in the pick and roll, post-up and finish inside, and run in transition either with the ball or take the ball and score. Axdahl had a number of plays where he’d block a shot, and then take the ball himself into a lay-up score.

Kannon Axdahl – Axdahl is a 2030 forward from Eastview where he played on Varsity as an 8th grader. Axdahl each year has gotten a little more explosive and able to handle the ball on the perimeter and going into his freshman year he looks like a real deal prospect. Axdahl has good size to play inside at six-foot-six-inches, and he is a threat blocking shots with his length and leaping. Offensively Axdahl has shown he’s able to do just about everything, step out and hit 3-pointers, catch and face-up, screen and roll to the rim, rebound and go being his own one man fastbreak, and score on putbacks. Axdahl at times was D1 Minnesota ‘s lead ball handler bring the ball up and getting them into their sets as well.

Kannon continues to emerge as the top prospect in this incoming freshman class, turning in another great weekend. He was the tallest player on the floor and is so athletic, being one of the best rebounders I have ever seen at the 14U level. He was able to use his lengthy 6’6” frame to dominate inside, scoring on several contested baskets and protecting the rim, blocking shots and putting fear into opponents whenever they drove.
