The 6-10 senior center remains a kept secret as he remains one of the top unsigned prospects in this year’s Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament. Queen is a big-bodied prospect when he has very good hands and footwork around the rim. He is very patient and plays with a soft touch when it comes to his shot selection as well. Queen is also a solid rebounder at both ends of the floor, as well as an improved jump shot he can knock down on all three levels. Defensively, Queen plays with a high motor where he challenges shots around the rim and stays disciplined.

Derik Queen, A 6-9 power forward that has big hands and a big frame playing on the block. His footwork around the paint has continued to improve as he builds a soft touch finishing around the rim. He shows great patience and is strong on the attack where he is unafraid to finish with contact getting to the foul line on numerous occasions. On the defensive end, Queen plays with a high motor and has the versatility where he can guard multiple positions as well as showcase his length out on the perimeter.

Derik Queen, A 6-9 forward has a terrific feel for the game and is a strong ball-handler for his size. Queen can also score in a variety of ways whether it’s post-ups or from the mid-range. He shows a ton of confidence when he has the basketball in his hands and is also an underrated passer for his size. Queen is still developing into becoming more of a combo forward as he grows his ability to defend multiple positions. Queen also plays with a high motor and good energy where he displays a ton of patience and plays under control.

The 6-9 power forward took over the game for Team Thrill where he was finishing around the rim whether it was on fastbreaks or off the catch. Queen played multiple positions on the floor and used his size to an advantage where he can muscle his way on the boards. His dominant play on the interior will be a huge difference maker as he heads into his senior season.

He is coming off a huge performance at the Hoophall Classic where he averaged 19.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, where the Eagles went 2-0 with wins over La Lumiere (Indiana) and Sunrise Christian (Kansas).

Queen is one of the more developed juniors in the entire state while playing at the well-known Montverde Academy. He contributes 11.7 points and 6.9 rebounds, according to Max Preps. The five-star junior has demonstrated his ability to score from various ways while going on a tear this season. Queen runs the floor well, can posterize bigger defenders, and is very efficient around the rim. The 6’9, 220-pound junior finished with 29.0 and 10.0 rebounds during the La Porte Invitational to earn MVP honors. Indiana and Maryland have been really interested.
