About Oneal
Expert Analysis
Eric Wallace | Prep Hoops Scout
One of the biggest stock risers in the 2027 class, Delancy built on the momentum of a strong season at Montverde Academy with an outstanding spring for the Florida Rebels, averaging 17.6 points per game while helping lead the team to a 10-1 record. A strong, quick, and highly competitive guard, Delancy consistently impacts games with his ability to score, defend, and make winning plays. He possesses a strong feel for the game, understands how to play within a team concept, and rarely looks out of control. An above average athlete, he attacks the basket with confidence, finishes through contact, and creates scoring opportunities in a variety of ways. Perhaps most encouraging has been the improvement in his perimeter shooting consistency, which has added another dimension to his offensive game and made him even more difficult to defend.

Coming off a successful season at Montverde Academy, Delancy carried that momentum into an impressive weekend in Atlanta. The junior is a strong, quick guard with a scorer’s mentality and the ability to impact the game in multiple ways. While he has the tools to develop into a point guard, he currently projects best as a combo guard who can play both backcourt positions. An above average athlete, he competes at a high level and brings toughness on both ends.

Delancy burst onto the scene last summer with a championship run at the EYBL Peach Jam with the Florida Rebels 16U squad, and he hasn’t slowed down since. Now moving into 17U, he has the chance to solidify himself as a top-tier talent in the class. Delancy was a key contributor for Montverde in their run to the Chipotle Nationals title game, and his impact goes beyond stats. He competes, plays winning basketball, and consistently performs on big stages.

A player who has helped winning programs, Delancy helped guide Montverde to an excellent season in the Nike Scholastic league and Delancy had a deep run with Florida Rebels at the 16 U level of EYBL last summer. Taking recent visits to Maryland, Florida and USF, Delancy is looking at a variety of options right now for his college future and will surely take some more before making a college decision. I liked how Delancy was able to score within the flow of the offense for Montverde this season, not forcing the issue and making shots from the perimeter at an efficient clip.

The aggressive scoring guard averaged 16 points per game in three wins for the Eagles, consistently providing offensive punch. Delancey plays with a scorer’s mentality, combining good strength and quickness with a strong feel for the game. He is comfortable creating offense off the bounce, getting downhill to pressure the defense and generate scoring opportunities. His perimeter shot-making continues to trend upward, making him an increasingly complete offensive threat. With his ability to create, attack, and produce, Delancey brings valuable backcourt scoring upside.

Best 3 & D guy at the Air Capital hoop Fest. Oneal is a constant heat check, he can catch fire quickly from three, and when he does, the rim is an ocean to him. He will throw punches in bunches from there when he sees even 1 go in. Defensively, he displayed the best on-ball defense I’ve seen all weekend during the 2nd half of the Sunrise Christian game. He hit a switch, and all of a sudden, he was putting everybody in jail and throwing away the keys without bail, no courtdate, and the judge is on vacation.

New Offers: Ohio State, Houston, Miami
Delancy is a long, physical guard who plays with a high motor. His move to Montverde Academy signals a new level of exposure, but his production at Gibbs — particularly as a defender and slasher — already had coaches watching. His ability to cover ground on both sides and make energy plays in transition gives him high-major upside.

New Offer: Florida State
Delancy is a mature guard with a veteran feel. He plays with poise, initiates offense with purpose and doesn’t get sped up. At 6-4, he can shoot it from deep, get downhill with power and absorb contact at the rim. Real qualities that are drawing Power 5 interest.

One of the flashiest guards in the class, Delancy holds the No. 5 spot in our 2027 rankings and is showing why this offseason. A fearless shot creator with a deep bag, he thrives in isolation and dominates in transition. His confidence is sky-high, and he’s already proven he can take over games when the lights are on.
