DeJohn, a scoring wing out of Worcester Academy, left his mark on the day with his ability to make shots in bunches from behind the arc. Easily the best shooter throughout the scrimmage portion, he got hot early in catch and shoot situations and then showed the ability to make them off the bounce too. Once the ball went through the net a few times, his driving game opened up too, where he showed some craftiness around the rim and the physicality need to finish through contact. Defensively, he made an impact on the glass and defended in space without fouling.

DeJohn impressed with his scoring versatility showing he could score from inside the two point line as well as behind the arc. He has nice size for his position and uses it to bully defenders to different stops on the floor he wants to get too. He is effective hunting for his own shot. If his feet are set there’s a high chance he is converting from deep. He found ways to get into driving lanes to turn defense to offense. DeJohn is a prospect who should be a priority for division two’s and high academic colleges.

I had only previously seen DeJohn play on Worcester Academy, which is obviously a far different environment than AAU. On that squad, he’s mainly a shooter and closeouts attacker. But on Monday night, he showed some really impressive driving and creation ability; nobody could stop the 6-foot-5 combo-guard from getting to the front of the rim, and he made a bunch of really nice finishes once he got there. He also looks more athletic than he did on film during the high school season. He should have a big AAU season for Magic and be a key part of WA’s title defense next season.

DeJohn, who had a solid sophomore season at Worcester Academy, has showcased real 3-and-D potential. Another intriguing long-term prospect that has good size on the wing, DeJohn is a scoring threat from behind the arc and as a cutter off the ball. His shooting stroke is compact and smooth and he does a nice job of elevating into his jumper. He’s a willing ball mover that has a good feel for how to play within the flow of an offense. Defensively, he has a high IQ and does a great job of defending within team concepts. He’s a capable rebounder, can guard multiple positions on the perimeter, and does a great job of creating turnovers off the ball.
