Fertig reminds me a lot of Fernandes. Like his counterpart, Fertig is undersized at 5-foot-5 but is well beyond his peers when it comes to skill level and IQ. He has a great feel for handling the ball and using stop-and-go and change of direction dribble moves to get bigger defenders off balance, and then he can consistently make floaters and jumpers from everywhere on the court. Fertig won’t be able to play for Worcester Academy’s top team this winter because of his lack of size, but he’s a growth spurt away from being one of the more exciting underclassman prospects in the region.
