Expert Analysis
Duvalier Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Perez looked like the best player on the floor at the Coliseum, and he’s been playing at a high level for the past month, which has led his team to an undefeated season in-state and a game away from getting back to the state championship. He finished with 18 points on the day and was one of the few players who silenced anyone who spoke about the difficulty of shotmaking at the Coliseum. He was lighting it up from deep, he got to his spots inside, and he’s proven to be a big shot maker. He caps off every big run as the team’s versatile weapon, and all eyes will be on him to keep pushing Rangeview through. Perez has made a leap in his senior year, and another big game should have more coaches knocking. Big opportunity for him where he should be able to continue this streak that he’s on and keep the Raiders dancing.

provides Rangeview with massive bursts of energy that elevate the play of everyone around him. Getting out in transition and detonating above the rim, the 6’6 forward utilizes his height to dominate opposing defenses. Not only can he attack the rim at will, but Perez has also developed a lethal jumpshot that the Raiders can count on. Despite a slower scoring night for Perez, he added a plethora of shot-contesting and communication on both ends of the floor that proved to be essential in defeating the Grizzlies. Watch out for Perez Airways in the Final Four, because he’s determined to win it all.

Perez has been stellar all year, but he’s elevating his game at exactly the right time. Coming off a recent season high 30 point performance, he’s playing with supreme confidence and poise. He stretches defenses with his three point shooting, attacks the rim with force and finishes above it when the moment calls for it. Beyond scoring he does the little things that swing momentum with active hands on defense, timely steals, smart ball movement and relentless effort. He plays with edge and energy. If he keeps dictating tempo and impacting both ends, he can absolutely take over the City League Championship for Rangeview

Perez was an absolute force for his team. He played hard on every possession, switching covers seamlessly and contesting open shooters. Down low he crashed the boards, altered shots and controlled the paint. Offensively he finished with 16 points, hitting deep shots when left open and showing he can dominate inside as well. From start to finish, Perez’s energy and physicality were impossible to ignore, making him a game changer on both ends and a player who consistently set the tone for his team all night

Perez is a player who is oozing with potential, and we want him to fulfill it. He has all of the intangibles to be one of the top players in the entire state, and we want the consistency to back it. Perez has good size, is a long and versatile defender who can affect the game in every single way. He can score from all 3 levels, and that separates him. Although he’s one of Rangeview’s top players, he’s also possibly the biggest X-factor in the conference. If he plays well, they win it all. To start the year, he has been off to a decent start, and they have not needed him to go to another level for them to turn that into wins. That will change as they play some of the top teams. We want to see him bring it in all settings and show himself as the team’s catalyst. He’s the No. 5 player in the conference and is a swing piece.

Perez just keeps getting better every time he hits the floor, and it’s easy to see why he’s become such a key piece for Rangeview. He’s a true do it all player who scores from all over the court with efficiency, confidence and a smooth touch that makes him tough to guard. Whether he’s pulling up, attacking the rim, or spacing the floor, Perez finds ways to make an impact offensively. What really makes him stand out is his energy and intensity on the defensive end. He takes pride in locking opponents down, grabbing boards, chasing loose balls, and even swatting shots when needed. That two way presence and nonstop motor are exactly why Perez is ranked, the kid simply makes winning plays everywhere on the court

Perez took his game to another level during fall league and showed just how much his all around skill set has expanded. He played with more confidence and command, taking on a bigger role within the offense and embracing the challenge of being a go to option. His handle looked tighter, allowing him to create more off the dribble and get to his spots efficiently. He showed a stronger ability to attack closeouts, finish through contact, and make plays for others when defenses collapsed. What really stood out was his consistency and how Perez found a way to impact his team. Whether it was his rebounding presence, his ability to stretch the floor with his shooting, or his relentless energy on defense, he made his presence felt in multiple ways. Defensively he’s become more disciplined and vocal, anchoring possessions with smart rotations and timely contests

Perez thrived as an impact player off the bench but is primed to step into a much larger role this season. His game is built on energy and instinct, whether it’s scoring a key bucket or breaking up a passing lane he’s always in the right position. On offense he can knock down shots from the perimeter, attack closeouts, and use his length to finish strong inside. His ability to stretch the floor with timely threes while still being effective around the rim gives his team flexibility in its offensive sets. Defensively he makes quick reads with active hands to disrupt and create turnovers that spark transition opportunities. With his combination of size, activity, and two way impact, Perez is projected to be more than just a starter. He is a player who can change games and establish himself as a consistent difference maker this season

Aidan is the perfect player to come off the bench- he’s definitely gonna be a force in the starting lineup next season. He brings a ton of energy to the court, and it always feels like the ball just finds him when it’s time to make a big play. He’s got a real knack for scoring, dropping 5 quick points off the bench. His long arms help him work the inside out game on offense- and on defense he’s always disrupting passing lanes. The biggest takeaway from watching him play is his ability to put himself in the right position on the court to be involved in the action.

provides Rangeview with plenty of rebounds on offense while swatting away shots on defense. Perez knows how to space the floor and make precise cuts to the basket, as he demonstrated against Regis. At 6’6, Perez attracts defensive attention, giving his teammates more room to work. This was the case in Aidan’s great 8 matchup, but expect Perez to make some noise come the final 4.
