Bailey is going to be an interesting player to follow because so much of what he does right now comes naturally. He plays off instinct, and there were plays at the showcase where that was difficult to contain. Bailey handles it well for a wing, can shift defenders before getting downhill and already has some intriguing footwork once he’s inside. He’s not afraid to use his body and mix it up a bit. He competes defensively too. This freshman year feels like it should be about learning how to harness all of that. There may be an adjustment period, and that’s perfectly fine. If he locks in, learns how to play within structure and embraces being coached by one of the states best over at Rangeview, he’s in a good situation to grow. The talent gets him on the watch list; now it’s about turning those instincts into dependable habits. I’ll certainly be following along but he’s jumps on the watch list.

Bailey was a player who kept showing up in my notes because it was tough for others to keep him out of the paint once he decided to attack. He handled the ball well for a wing and had enough shift to get defenders leaning before working his way in the paint and to his spot. One move that caught my attention was a small drop step he used after getting inside, sealing the defender with his body and creating the angle he needed to finish. That’s the makings and footwork of a solid player. Bailey brought plenty of energy on the other end as well, defending and making plays, and stayed involved. He has a solid handle, can score in bunches, and plays defense, and those things pop for me.
