Taylor played spot minutes on varsity for Rangeview this Summer and that is enough for me to know that he can go. I then saw him at the Freshman showcase and I am intrigued by the way that he controls the game with the ball in his hands. He’s a comfortable ballhandler who plays at his own pace, probes the offense and looks for cutters and open guys and can make entry passes without turning it over. He doesnt worry about defenders playing time, he can break defenders down off the dribble and finishes well inside. Guards were having a difficult time slowing him down and he’s a solid downhill attacker. He puts pressure on the defense while also occasionally going to get his own and I just know that by the end of the year he’s going to be even better at all of these things with a year of learning Rangeview’s system. He’s a name to know and one I would put in the Top 15 right now with room to push for the Top-10.

I’ve been wanting to see Taylor play, and the two things that immediately stood out for me was his feel and tempo. Taylor controls the pace, plays at his own rate, and wasn’t sped up at all throughout the event. He calls for the screen and uses it, he’s probing the defense and makes smart reads. He made moves on his guy, read the second line of defenders, and kept finding the open man. He was one of the better passers on the day, and it was great to see him in that role because that’s what he’ll be at Rangeview. He started scoring after getting settled and had a solid moment where he and another player were going at it. That’s when we wanted to see him start hunting his offense a bit more as he gets to where he wants on the floor, and we want to see him reward himself after countering and creating so much space. Taylor will certainly be a player we write about a ton throughout his career, and this was a solid outing for him where he got to prove himself.

Taylor showed why he’s a guard you can trust, playing with a calm confidence that made the game look easy. He had excellent command of the ball, using quick changes of direction and tight handles to get by defenders and create opportunities. His feel for the game really stood out, especially in the two man game, where he consistently made smart reads and took advantage of screens. He plays with purpose and rarely seems rushed, showing he understands where he wants to go with the ball. There’s another level offensively waiting for him, and seeing him become more aggressive as a scorer could be exciting

Kaleb proved he belonged with a strong all around day. His crafty handle allowed him to break down defenders and create scoring for himself. He also displayed good court vision by making the right passes and keeping teammates involved throughout the game.
