Anwar showed off an extremely impressive three-level scoring arsenal today. The 6-foot-7 forward has phenomenal strength, so he can bully opposing forwards and wings inside the paint and then create easy finishing opportunities for himself, which he converts with his nice touch using both hands. He can also shoot from the outside and has a knack for little one-footed fall away shots in the paint, which make him an even more versatile scorer. He knows how to use his body, he can defend multiple positions, and he plays the right way—seems like a scholarship prospect to me who should be a key piece for Kimball Union this season.

True length and size for small forward position at the next level. Possibly a 3 dependent upon need. Utilizes wing span to advantage. Doesn’t need space to fire away quickly from beyond the arc. Splashed in 3 3’s on an efficient marker in today’s action. Attacks the basket at times against similar size. Challenge to wall up on driver. Consumed contact multiple times after getting into the paint. Operates smoothly and knows how to utilize tangible advantages. Team high 11.

Showed a strong understanding of how to attack Crystal Lake South’s 1–3–1 zone, consistently cutting to the middle to provide a reliable outlet. From there, he made sound decisions—dishing to the post or passing out when guards dug down. Used his size effectively to back down defenders and finish, while also flashing skill with a spin move on a drive that resulted in a finish through contact. His length stood out defensively, staying vertical at the rim and recording timely blocks. Active on the glass on both ends, corralling multiple rebounds and providing consistent effort on the offensive boards. Knocked down a deep wing three and later connected on another in the fourth quarter to cut CLS’s lead to six.

Anwar is a floor spacing power forward who tells us the schools he will be visiting this fall include Carnegie Mellon, Wash U, University of Chicago, John Hopkins, UC San Diego, and Brown. “I’m keeping my options open and hoping for the best school I can get into both academically and athletically.” He would like to decide before the season, but isn’t going to rush it if he hasn’t found the right fit by then.
