Expert Analysis
Will Armishaw | Prep Hoops Scout
McCullough, a guard out of Daniel Hand High School in Connecticut, was one of the top scorers in the state this winter, playing with a great feel for the game on the offensive end of the floor. He’s super shifty with the ball in his hands and really knows how to create space to get his shot off. He plays off of a lot of hesitations, crossovers, and shot fakes, allowing him to get defenders off balance and to get into the paint off the bounce. On the other end of the floor, he’s a good point of attack defender that fights through screens and does a nice job of turning steals into scoring opportunities in transition. He remains undecided on a college destination.

McCullough, a senior guard out of Daniel Hand High School, stands out with his two-way play, intensity, and effort. He does a great job of making plays on the basketball on the defensive end of the floor, giving up his body for the good of his team, and rebounding in space. Offensively, he knows how to run an offense in the half-court, can play with physicality as a driver, and does a nice job of finishing around the rim. His ability to make winning plays on both ends of the floor stands out every time he steps on the court.

McCullough dominated the 4v4 portion of elite camp with his shooting and driving ability. The 5-foot-11 guard is obviously undersized, but he does a great job using his quickness, change of direction, and head fakes to get into the lane and finish. He also makes smart passes once the defense collapses on him. The senior guard will need to improve his strength if he wants to succeed at the D3 level, but he does a lot of other things you want a short guard to do. He can probably find a fit somewhere as a result.
