I am going to say it louder for the people in the back....[player_tooltip player_id='1561118' first='Doron' last='Harris'] is the most underrated and overlooked guard in the entire state and that is a fact. They are very few players in the state that can change and takeover a game like the dynamic senior guard out of Lawrence Central High School. Just this past week, he put up a 32 point game outing which was arguably the best performance out of the entire weekend. Coaches at all levels need to be looking into Harris because you could get a steal out of him. Harris will be in action this week when the Bears travel to Park Tudor (1/7) and vs Hamilton Southeastern (1/9).

The University Trailblazers look like a team that is once again going to make a run at the Class 2A Championship and a big reason to that has been the development of junior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2887162' first='Joshua' last='Henderson']. The 6'6 versatile prospect is averaging a team-high 15.8 points as well as 4.0 rebounds per game. Henderson has been one of out most improved stock-risers in the class of 2026 due to his incredible length, athleticism, and raw skill. University has a tough week traveling to Brebeuf Jesuit (1/6), hosting Scecina (1/8), then traveling to Covenant Christian (1/10).

It has been fun seeing how the 2028 in-state has started to come into their own and one of the top prospects in the class that is doing just that is small forward [player_tooltip player_id='2560407' first='Quen'tavious' last='Fly']. While he has kind of flown under-the-radar being that he is at a smaller school in Bowen Academy, Fly has been playing extremely well during his sophomore season averaging 21.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists for the Eagles. At 6'4, Fly is an explosive athlete with incredible physical tools to back it up. Watch him this week when the Eagles host Calumet (1/6) and Whiting (1/7).

3 Teams

Batesville (3A) – A sneaky team in the southern portion of Class 3A that may need to start getting more attention are the Batesville Bulldogs. With an incredible 7-1 record to start off the season, they have gotten some pretty good wins over teams such as Greensburg, Lawrenceburg, South Ripley, and Austin. For the Bulldogs, it all starts with stock-rising wing [player_tooltip player_id='2141019' first='James' last='Hughes'] who is averaging a near double-double of 20.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Other guys like seniors Brayden Maple and [player_tooltip player_id='1561060' first='Trenten' last='Luers'] have also had strong season's as well. Batesville will be looking to finish off the Ripley County Tournament strong with a win over Jac-Cen-Del on 1/7.

Centerville (2A) – There may not be a more dominant team in all of Class 2A than the Centerville Bulldogs. With the only loss coming against a very good Class 4A team in Bloomington South, Centerville has already won 9 games this season and will be winning many more as the year progresses. Centerville is led by senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1738825' first='Shea' last='Hollendonner'] with 22.7 points, [player_tooltip player_id='1738828' first='Landyn' last='Keiser'] with 12.0 points, and [player_tooltip player_id='2617854' first='Jace' last='Hollendonner'] with 10.5 points per game. This team has the talent and coaching to win the whole thing in Class 2A this season. This week, they have the Wayne County Tournament.

Rossville (1A) – Looking at the Class 1A Top 10, it is a bunch of teams that can make a legit push come the postseason and one of those teams could very well be the Rossville Hornets. They stand 8-1 right now and likely the favorite to wi Sectional 54 as it stands today. For the Hornets, it all starts with Brayden Thiele-hahn who averages a near double-double of 23.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Rossville will have two tough road trips vs Taylor and Sheridan this weekend.

3 Matchups

Jeffersonville (4A) at New Albany (4A) - Jan. 8th, 7:30

While these two teams are on kind of opposite paths, this rivalry game will always been a matchup to watch in any given season. The defending Class 4A Red Devils will be making the trip to New Albany to face a Bulldog team that is looking to find their stride this season. Jeffersonville has only 4 games up to this point this season but the talent of guys like [player_tooltip player_id='2622021' first='Jacob' last='Wilkerson'] and Chase Whitehead as well as the coaching to compete with anybody they play. If Jeffersonville wants to get the huge road win over their rival, they will have to slow down [player_tooltip player_id='2382148' first='Noah' last='Washington'] which is pretty hard to do at times. It'll be an intense game, but New Albany should be able to win this one.

Gary 21st (2A) at Crispus Attucks (3A) - Jan. 10th, 2:30

On of the more intriguing games this week that provides both teams an opportunity to get big wins is when Gary 21st travels down Crispus Attucks on Saturday. As of this writing, both 21st and Attucks have gotten five wins on the year and for the most part have been playing pretty good basketball. The matchup to watch here will be between senior guards [player_tooltip player_id='1561080' first='Terrence' last='Hayes'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1560945' first='DeZhon' last='Hall'], both players who are two of the most electric guards across the entire state. This game will all come down to which surrounding pieces step up. I like Attucks in a close one.

Princeton (3A) at Evansville Bosse (3A) - Jan. 10th, 7:30

Arguably the best Class 3A matchup this week will be between two southern Indiana teams in Princeton and Evansville Bosse. Things have been a little rocky for Bosse to start the season but there is no question in the talent they have being led by guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1760994' first='Dorion' last='Bowen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2172596' first='Marrius' last='Harris']. Princeton has 9 wins already this season thanks to the 1-2 punch combo of [player_tooltip player_id='1560964' first='Edwin' last='Holmes'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2539928' first='Quintyn' last='Voltz']. There is a ton of talent in this game regardless so no matter what, this should be a really good game. I feel like Bosse will get the big win here.
