According to those who follow youth basketball in the state, the Class of 2027 may be one of the deeper groups of talent incoming to the high school ranks in quite some time. A lot of the top future freshmen from Oregon will be competing under one roof on Sunday at the first-ever PrepHoops Oregon Freshman Showcase, being held at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA.
Of note is the fact the majority of our first rankings for the Class of 2027 have signed up to participate – in fact, 8 of the top 10 initially ranked players are registered to compete. The depth at guard is deep – Avery Huston Avery Huston 6'3" | CG Dynamic Prep | 2027 State TX (ranked #2) comes up I-5 from Cascade Christian in Medford to battle against some of the other top backcourt performers in the Portland Metro area including West Linn’s Junior Vialva Junior Vialva 5'11" | PG West Linn | 2027 OR (#3), Nelson’s Braylon Gaines Braylon Gaines 5'9" | PG Nelson | 2027 State OR (#4) and Jaydon Schregardus Jaydon Schregardus 5'11" | CG Nelson | 2027 State OR (#7), Centennial’s Darius Andrews Darius Andrews 6'3" | PG Centennial | 2027 State OR (#5), Clackamas’ RJ Barhoum RJ Barhoum 6'4" | SG Clackamas | 2027 State OR (#6), and Grant’s Varryk Hardges Varryk Hardges 6'2" | CG Grant | 2027 State OR (#8). Leading the way for emerging big men will be West Linn’s Alarion Scott Alarion Scott 6'4" | PF West Linn | 2027 State OR (#10) and Damian Olivera (#NR). Some top players from nearby Washington will be in attendance as well.

The showcase will take place from 11 am to 4 pm and spectators are free to attend. College coaches will be in attendance and games will also be streamed on BallerTV.
