It has been a little over a month since we released our first look at the top Indiana High School Basketball teams for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Now that the academic year is about to start, we've watched all of these teams compete in June, and we are entering a quieter period in our content calendar it seemed like a good time to revisit our earlier takes. Have our takes been solidified? Would we change anything? We did this with the top teams in each class and now will do it with the top players/prospects. Here are 10 of the best players to watch at the Class 2A level this coming season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2408517' first='Cole' last='Breeden'] (Evansville Mater Dei H.S. 2028) - His future may be on the baseball field, but this 6'6" sharpshooter from Evansville Mater Dei is also a highly regarded basketball prospect in the Class of 2028. He had a strong sophomore season and should once again be a top player for what could be a tough to be Mater Dei squad this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2414954' first='Chase' last='Devine'] (Bremen H.S. 2027) - This scoring guard has put up huge numbers since his freshman season. This year he will push towards the 2,000 career points milestone while leading Bremen once again. He is a highly sought after recruit from some of the Crossroads League powerhouses and should be one of the top scorers in the state this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2617866' first='Jaylin' last='Foster'] (Scecina Memorial 2028) - Foster has had two very good seasons at Scecina Memorial, but he really experienced a breakout this summer at the Charlie Hughes Showcase. The 6'5" versatile two-way wing is arguably the best defender in the class and can be a real matchup problem offensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2539991' first='Amarian' last='Leggett'] (Blackford H.S. 2028) - From a statistical standpoint there likely won't be anyone at the Class 2A level, or maybe at any level in the state, put up numbers like Leggett. As a sophomore he averaged 26.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. Blackford should be one of the better teams in Class 2A this season as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2636078' first='Micah' last='Mohler'] (Austin H.S. 2029) - Nobody had a better freshman season than this 6'4" wing from Austin High School. Not only did Mohler put up massive numbers for a freshman, but he also led his team to a Class 2A Semi-State berth. They will once again be one of the top 2A teams in the state, and Mohler, who now holds an Indiana offer, will be one of the top players in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140403' first='Kamdon' last='Partenheimer'] (Forest Park H.S. 2027) - There is so much potential to Partenheimer's game. You can't teach the size at 6'9", but he also has an intriguing skill level. He can stretch the floor from the front court, take advantage of mismatches inside, and is among the state's leaders in rebounds per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2807644' first='Paul' last='Ridgway'] (Sullivan H.S. 2027) - Ridgway had a great summer emerging as a stock-riser both in our rankings and in the eyes of college coaches. The 6'6" forward is athletic enough to drive it and dunk it, but is also a very good three-point shooter. His unique combination of size, strength, skill, and athleticism makes him one of the top 2A players in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='2622228' first='Austin' last='Schlabach'] (Westview H.S. 2027) - Westview High School came up just one possession short of the Class 2A State Championship last season with Schabach leading the way while earning Indiana Junior All-Star honors. He is a highly sought after recruit by a few of the Crossroads League powerhouse programs.

[player_tooltip player_id='2266894' first='Jace' last='Tonagel'] (Oak Hill H.S. 2027) - Oak Hill will likely enter the 2026-2027 season as the #1 team in Class 2A. Tonagel has been a leader for them since his freshman season and is coming off of an excellent junior year where he averaged 16.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.6 steals per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2956681' first='Will' last='Tonagel'] (Oak Hill H.S. 2029) - The younger Tonagel brother stepped in as a freshman and was a star from day one. The athletic, left-handed guard who received his first Division I offer already this summer, averaged 14.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.6 steals per game.

Five Other Names to Know: [player_tooltip player_id='3688081' first='Dakota' last='Apple'] (Paoli H.S. 2027), [player_tooltip player_id='2538843' first='Braxton' last='Bowman'] (Crawford County H.S. 2028), [player_tooltip player_id='2539946' first='Eli' last='Gilpin'] (South Ripley H.S. 2028), [player_tooltip player_id='2791284' first='Kyan' last='Hudson'] (Eastern Greene H.S. 2028), [player_tooltip player_id='2140451' first='Trey' last='Page'] (Sheridan H.S. 2027)
