Rankings Update ’27: Guards on the Rise

The 2027 class saw multiple guards rise in the rankings as their skill development and on court impact became impossible to overlook. The class is filled with talented prospects at every position, and I expect even more to emerge as the summer concludes and we head into the fall. A number of players are poised to separate themselves as the next wave of standouts.    He can impact the game on both ends of the floor. He's long, active, and plays with high energy. His scoring versatility continues to improve, and he's shown the ability to take over games through perimeter shooting, slashing, and defensive playmaking. When his feet are set, his release is pure, and his shot looks the same every time.     King made one of the biggest jumps in the rankings, climbing from 49 to 15. King is one of the best shooters in the city, with the ability to score efficiently both from the catch and off the dribble. He puts the ball on the floor well, getting downhill and converting multiple floaters with touch. A lot of his impact goes unnoticed, but when that first shot drops, it's going to be a long day for opponents.       Gio plays with steadiness and balance, running the offense efficiently and keeping everything organized. Offensively, he shows high‑level court vision, IQ, and relies on his natural basketball instincts. He can knock down shots from beyond the perimeter and midrange, and his ball handling and ability to create space are especially impressive. On the defensive end, his quick hands allow him to generate deflections and collect steals.     He's a left‑handed perimeter sniper with a fundamentally sound skill set and one of the most efficient shooters I've seen overall. He has a quick release, high IQ, and utilizes his shot‑fake game as well as his movement off the ball to score off the bounce. His shot is well respected to the point where defenses always identify him, but when there's a breakdown, he'll make you pay.     Romeo plays hard from start to finish and went from the watch list to sixth in the rankings. He uses his strength and body control to get downhill and finish through contact. He's shown the ability to knock down the pull up three, giving the offense valuable spacing. He has a versatile offensive skill set with a soft touch on floaters and runners over length.     German moved up from 10th to third because of his overall presence on both ends of the floor. He locks up players defensively and controls the flow of the offense, and his impact is felt every possession. He's known for elite quickness, playmaking skills, and high level defensive impact. He's a quick downhill guard who uses his natural instincts and IQ to make the right reads. His ability to stretch the floor with his jump shooting is a major factor, giving him the versatility to space the floor effectively.
