Expert Analysis
Kevin Daniels | Prep Hoops Scout
He showed strong hands, causing deflections and playing effective on ball defense at the half court line. He ran the lane well and finished in the paint, using his shiftiness and quickness to drive, reverse‑pivot, and create a jumper. He scored with a downhill high floater and made a sharp inbound pass, then received it back and found a cutter at the rim for a dunk.

He put his playmaking on full display. He was able to penetrate and make smart reads, finding open teammates throughout the night. His court vision and overall feel were impressive from start to finish. He also knocked down an impressive pull‑up three from the top of the key. Defensively, he recorded multiple blocks and jumped a passing lane for an anticipation steal that led to a layup.

He stands out as one of the craftiest guards in New York City. His blend of quickness and creativity makes him a nightmare to contain in the open court. With an advanced feel for the game and sharp court vision. Gio consistently makes smart reads and sets up teammates. He’s especially dangerous downhill, where he finishes with finesse and touch over taller defenders using the floater.

The smallest player on the court, Moran packed arguably the biggest punch with his energetic play off the bench that swung the outcome of the game. He caught the eye in the first half with a shifty and-one using his left hand, but took over during a key stretch in the fourth quarter to open up a tie game. With a silky handle and a pure quick-release stroke from deep, Moran applied pressure out of ball screens to touch the paint before stretching the defense out with a pair of pullup 3s. His corner fadeaway at the shot-clock buzzer followed by a drawn charge on the other end would prove to be the nail in the coffin for Canarsie. It’s early to speculate on his college projection, as Moran still has a lot of maturing to do in his frame, but he announced himself loudly onto the radar with his clutch performance on the big stage.

We hope you understand we could have put several talented freshmen for this last spot because the league is getting younger so fast. The reason we went with Moran is because why he may not have the flash he is a prospect we know is going to have a big year next season. He will be expected to take care of the ball, help run the offense, make shots when called on and compete defensively on every possession. His coaching staff will continue to push Moran to the next level and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for his second varsity season.

Could possibly be the next D1 guard for the Terrier program that is putting out college players year after year. Gio handles the ball well in tight spots or the open floor. Elusive quick guard. In a recent game I saw him in he made a behind the back pass in transition which was the only pass to make. Showed the ability to finish in transition. Defensively he has quick hands and feet. High basketball IQ . Excellent first step.

A shifty point guard. Gio is very effective with the drive and kick. Handles the ball really well. Has the potential to be a scoring point guard who knows how to run a team.
