Adidas 3SSB Bryan: Friday Night Lights Prospects Watchlist

The 3SSB Adidas circuit made its way to the Legends Event Center in Bryan last weekend and it was certainly a sight to behold. Many teams from all over the United States and even a few from Canada showed up to participate and make statements with their play. I was able to watch over 20 new prospects I had never laid eyes on before and it gave me a whole new perspective on the scene of national high school basketball. Let's take a look at some guys I started off watching on Friday night and who caught my attention.    Jalen Davis is a guard who is a blur in transition on fastbreaks and consistently creates good shot looks for himself in the midrange and from beyond the arc. Davis showcases quick handles and ability to beat the defense to the rim with explosiveness. He is a willing passer and displays this with his acute court awareness on drive and dish plays. Jalen efficiently puts up big numbers across multiple games, and he showed me in his game on Friday night that he is more than just a scorer.     [player_tooltip player_id='2610671' first='Jalen' last='Mehu'] is a tall and physical guard who is relentless attacking the basket off the dribble. His strong frame allows him to muscle past defenders and finish through contact, getting to the foul line often and connecting on free throws. He scores paint touches with a soft layup using the glass in the paint and his IQ with the ball in his hands is underrated. Mehu makes smart decisions and also knows how to play fundamental, aggressive perimeter defense. He shows confidence on the perimeter when open shooting the basketball and uses the P&R to his advantage.     I found out after watching Jordan Fox's first game on Friday night that he is one of the 3SSB current leaders in steals and this is evident by the way he plays on defense. He is a vocal leader on the perimeter and makes sure to shut down opposing ballhandlers and force them into turnovers. His explosion in isolation situations allows him to shake defenders off balance and punish late closeouts. Fox possesses underrated athleticism and displays high IQ in transition scenarios as a talented combo guard.     Thomas Wolf was the first shooter I was able to watch this weekend at the 3SSB session and boy, did he make a first impression! Wolf went 4 for 5 from deep in the first half, showing smooth mechanics off the dribble and making the defense pay constantly for leaving him open. When not scoring from three point, he moved well without the ball on cuts and around off ball screens. Capable of shooting off the spot up or dribble, Thomas showed calm and poise under pressure and that he has the touch to go on a heater.     Demetrius Lambert is a talented guard who scored from all three levels and made the game look easy for Tru Colorado this weekend. Lambert possesses a balance of calm, poise, and ball control that allows him to create for himself and knock down shots from every area of the floor on the offensive end. He uses his long wingspan on defense to play passing lanes and make dime dropping passes to open teammates for good, open shots. He also helps out on both ends rebounding the ball as a tall guard.
