One of New York City’s premier scorers, Romeo closed Friday night with a 30-point performance. Twelve of those points came at the foul line, where the Brooklyn native attempted 15 free throws. Between his quick first step, strength and confidence as a finisher, there is little PSAL defenses can do to keep him out of the paint. Expect a big final season from one of the Empire State’s best guards.

There is plenty of talent in the PSAL this season, and the NYSWAA AA State Player of the Year is seemingly the best of all of them. A downright electric scorer on all three levels, Romeo has led Achievement First to back-to-back PSAL 3A Championships and a City Championship in the last two seasons. The resume and the scoring numbers are certainly amongst the best of players still in the state.

Romeo was electric as a scorer once again, putting up 29 points as Achievement First used a strong second half to get separation from St. Peter’s and never looked back. At this point, it’s clear that he’s wired to put the ball in the basket- and should be amongst the top scorers in the city again this season.

One of the top scorers in New York City regardless of class or Public school/Catholic- Romeo will be looking to make his last year the best. The senior guard had 24 points before half time in their opening round win, and has the type of firepower that could see Achievement First go on a deep run both at Smartball and deep in the PSAL again this season.

Romeo plays hard from start to finish and went from the watch list to sixth in the rankings. He uses his strength and body control to get downhill and finish through contact. He’s shown the ability to knock down the pull up three, giving the offense valuable spacing. He has a versatile offensive skill set with a soft touch on floaters and runners over length.

Never let the size fool you when it comes to Romeo. The 6-0 guard can score in a variety of ways and he showed that in the underclassmen game from shooting floaters in the paint with ease over bigger defenders to shooting the ball from three.

He stretched the floor off the dribble and from the catch, giving his team reliable spacing and shot creation. Defensively, he pressured the ball well and consistently disrupted opposing guards. He reached a major milestone by scoring his 1,000th point in the championship game, a moment that fueled his momentum. He was shifty off the dribble, changed direction smoothly, and used his strength to finish through traffic. As an aggressive playmaker and scoring threat, he attacked gaps, created opportunities, and kept defenses off balance. His standout performance in the 3A Championship earned him MVP honors, highlighting the impact he made on both ends of the floor.
