Every rankings update brings new names into the mix, and the latest look at the 2027 class was no different. Whether it was a big Summer, a strong start to the Fall, or simply continued production and evaluation, a number of prospects did enough to earn their first spots in the rankings. We take a closer look at the highest ranked newcomers and what ultimately helped them to break through.

Davids had a solid debut season at LuHi before really settling in to being in American. The British big man was at a different level during the AAU season. Earing All-First Team MADE Hoops Circuit in the process. A powerful finisher at the rim, Davids is an ideal five man who has proven to be one of the best shot blockers in the Northeast, if not nationally, in the class. His recruitment was really beginning to take off before he went back to Jr. National team play in July.

There is plenty of talent in the PSAL this season, and the NYSWAA AA State Player of the Year is seemingly the best of all of them. A downright electric scorer on all three levels, Romeo has led Achievement First to back-to-back PSAL 3A Championships and a City Championship in the last two seasons. The resume and the scoring numbers are certainly amongst the best of players still in the state.

The Bella Vista transfer comes in and immediately fills a hole in the Albany Academy lineup. The Yale commit first shined in the June live periods as a modern five who can pick and pop or score around the basket. That has continued through the Summer and into the Fall. Gonda appears to have already gotten himself into better playing shape since the Summer and will combine for one of the best senior duos in the State regardless of affiliation this season.

Osinski had a great junior season at Christian Brothers Academy, averaging over 2 points and 6 boards a game en route to multiple regional MVP honors and a AAA State Championship while finishing a perfect 25-0. Valentes Rocks was one of the better teams on the HGSL this season- thanks in large part to the tough and talented scorer. A good shooting stroke makes him dangerous, as Osinski seemingly never stops moving. A move to Albany Academy and the NEPSAC competition it brings with it will likely be enough of a test for colleges to see that he is a quality addition for a Patriot or Ivy League program.

One of the best shooters in the state, Duckett is an ideal fit as a catch-and-shoot threat along a new look Crusader team who will have little issue getting into the paint and defenses to collapse and him plenty of opportunities to get open looks. The Howard commit has steadily improved over the last year since arriving at LuHi and should be in line for a solid final season.
