Charlie Hughes Showcase – Ramsey’s Saturday Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 21st annual IHSAA/IBCA Charlie Hughes Memorial Showcase tipped off on Friday. There are 210 teams competing across over 350 games between Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. and Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. Prep Hoops Indiana will have boots on the ground coverage the entire way from the opening tip until the final buzzer. However, the addition of this transfer from the state of Florida really solidifies them near the top of the class. The 6'0" guard displayed his shot-making ability in an impressive performance again Austin on Saturday. We had the chance to see him play for portions of both of his games on Saturday and he played well in both contests. The 5'8" guard may be small but he does a great job of creating separation off of the bounce and elevates so well on his jump shots. Chinn had it cooking from beyond the arc and displayed some explosiveness as a finisher at the rim. He is a bit undersized as a post player, but it doesn't stop him from consistently being highly productive around the basket. Crum was an incredible 10-11 from the field and 13-17 from the free throw finishing with 34 points for Parke Heritage. The 6'4" wing is incredibly versatile and continues to flash some improved shooting ability from three-point range which will really take his game to another level. He finished with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists against Carmel. He is a creative, crafty driver and finisher with length and quickness off of the bounce. The 6'4" guard is highly skilled on the offensive end. He has good positional size, takes contact well as a driver, and is an excellent shot-maker both from beyond the arc and in the mid-range. The 6'2" guard was excellent as a driver, flashed his athleticism as a driver and finisher inside, and rebounded well from the perimeter. He went on to score 25 points and looked like a legitimate scholarship-level guard. He shot it well off of the dribble from three-point range, knocked in a couple from the catch, and showed off his strength and body control by finishing at the end of his drives in the paint. Then, later in the day, he went 7-11 from three-point range and scored 37 points. Runyan was incredibly impressive showing off his three-level scoring ability. He made a nice three-point shot off of a flare, made turnaround jump shots in the mid-post, and used his positional size and length to finish up at the rim. He finished the weekend, leading Bishop Chatard to a 4-0 record, shooting 17-25 from three-point range and averaged 19 points per game.
