Over the weekend, I had the honor to coach in the first ever LGHoops Summer All-Star Classic at Tecumseh High School. This event featured some of the best 2027-2029 prospects in Southwest Indiana and I was able to get a first-hand look at all the action. Going up against Team Kendrick's team, I coached 8 really talented prospects and was able to see why they were selected to play in this event. With that, here are some in-depth evaluations on the players that made up Team Staley.

One of the "head of the snakes" on my team was Bedford's [player_tooltip player_id='2116874' first='Parker' last='Kern']. The 6'3 point guard really set a tone early for my team doing a good job of getting the right buckets when needed both from driving and hitting the deep ball. What really stood out to me was the leadership he brought in this type of environment by communicating on both ends of the ball. Finished with 20 points going 4-6 from three, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal.

Another lead guard that was super impressive for my team was [player_tooltip player_id='2140367' first='Greg' last='Pieterek']. Coming off the bench for my squad, he did not hesitate to get himself involved as soon as he stepped onto the floor. Very aggressive, explosive guard that likes to attack the paint as often as he can. A highly productive guard on the offensive end and a hard nosed defender as well. Could have made an argument for MVP of this game.

There was one and only state champion in the gym at the LG Hoops Summer All-Star Classic on Saturday and that person was 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='3045017' first='Kierson' last='Lengacher'] out of Barr-Reeve HS. The 6'1 shooting guard brought really strong floor spacing skill and a high IQ. Did not force a ton but was always ready to get a look when the ball when swing in the right direction for him. He also hit one of the more impressive threes I saw on the day.

The MVP of the LG Hoops Summer All-Star Classic just so happened to come on my team and that player was [player_tooltip player_id='2891750' first='Reece' last='Runyan'] out of Gibson Southern HS. Runyan was by far one of the best true scorers on the floor in this game with his smooth jumper and crafty finishes around the rim. Did a great job of playing within himself throughout the game which is what allowed him to have a 15 point, 10 rebound double-double on his way to winning MVP of the game.

There may not have been a player that played with a higher motor on the floor than Boonville forward [player_tooltip player_id='2140389' first='Jaxon' last='McKain']. One of the more pure, athletic players in the game, McKain was ultra aggressive on both ends of the floor and played with such force around the basket on the offensive end. Really just love the ways he competes on the floor and the energy he brought off the bench to start the game. Very underrated player in the 2027 class.

The hometown player that played in the LG Hoops Summer All-Star Classic was 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2882777' first='Damon' last='Oxley']. Oxley was one of the more consistent combo guard I had on the floor for my team on Saturday. Had a real balanced offensive game being a guy that could score, facilitate, and be just a sneaky playmaker both on and off the ball. Really put on a strong performance in his him gym of Tecumseh HS and made the plays that helped my team win.

The highest rated prospect that played in the LG Hoops Summer All-Star Classic was without question [player_tooltip player_id='2617833' first='Ishmael' last='Kiteka']. Biggest player on the floor and used that to his advantage with his above the rim finishing skill and rim protection. Showed a little bit of his improved ability spacing the floor and knocking down the three. He was also was able to win the dunk contest as well in impressive fashion.

Round out my team was one of the top rising prospects in the 2027 class, [player_tooltip player_id='2140443' first='Tait' last='Wetzel'] of Heritage Hills HS. Wetzel wasted no time in providing immediate production in the front court. Was really strong 15ft and in using his athleticism and versatility to make plays around the basket. His rebounding was impressive and just his overall motor was high on both ends of the floor. Another guy that I thought could have been the MVP in this one.
