Only got to see Jaxon McKain Jaxon McKain 6'3" | SF/CG Boonville | 2027 State IN twice this June, but in both games he was excellent. At 6’3”, he’s a fluid athlete that showed off his versatility on both ends of the floor. Has always been a relentless driver of the basketball with the intent on scoring, but showed an improvement in the perimeter stroke that has been an issue in the past as well as better court vision and playmaking off the bounce reading defenses while not forcing up shots. He’s a physical presence on the defensive end with the strength to guard all over the floor. High IQ aggressive defender that always seems to be in the right place at the right times. Plays with active hands in passing lanes while also being the leading returning rebounder for the Pioneers.

Not sure there is a better player in Southwest Indiana at getting to the basket on straight line drives than 6’4” 2027 W Jaxon McKain Jaxon McKain 6'3" | SF/CG Boonville | 2027 State IN of Boonville. Physical wing that isn’t a great athlete, but has an explosive first step to get around his defender. Does a good job absorbing contact and still being able to make plays for himself as well as others. Good court vision with the ability to initiate offense. Versatile defender that plays with a high motor.

The soon to be four year varsity starter returns for the Pioneers after their best season since 2009-2010. McKain is a physical wing that impacts the game in a variety of different ways and will look to lead one of Southwest Indiana’s most experienced teams.

I got a chance to watch Team Tradition 17U late afternoon on Saturday and a few of their players stood out to me, one of them being Jaxon McKain Jaxon McKain 6'3" | SF/CG Boonville | 2027 State IN of Boonville HS. A player that is likely a guard long term, McKain played more forward it felt like and his skill and pure aggressiveness helped him a ton against the defense. McKain just player super hard on the floor with a high motor and is not afraid to go at the defensive contact. Can score at the rim and stretch it a bit, as well.

We’ve been high on McKain here at Prep Hoops Indiana since his freshman season. The consistent contributor checks all of the boxes you could want on the perimeter in terms of athletic and physical tools. McKain, a 6’3″ wing, has a lot of upside as a defender and is an excellent right hand driver. His ability to score off of the bounce, and serve as a secondary playmaker, makes him an intriguing small college prospect. He is one to watch for Team Tradition 17u.

His jump shot is still a work in progress, but he is arguably the best driver of the basketball in the area. He’s a physical wing that knows how to use his body to his advantage and gets to his spots and finish through contact with either hand. Also continues to get better as a playmaker with his court vision and ability to make any pass on the floor. Versatile defender that plays with a high motor that will continue to have a strong spring and summer.
