This is the perfect event to culminate a busy spring. Believe it or not, the Prep Hoops Circuit has been roaring for two months now. We've followed the circuit around from Chicago, to Indianapolis, to Lafayette and everywhere in between. Now, before heading into the June scholastic period, it is time to crown some champions. This weekend we are hosting the annual Prep Hoops Indiana State Tournament at The Farmers Bank Fieldhouse in Lebanon. Let's empty out the notebook with some takeaways from Saturday's action.

8:00 a.m. Crew

As always, the 8:00 a.m. crew had boots on the ground at The Farmers Bank Fieldhouse for the first round of games on Saturday. We were in attendance to watch Indiana Elite - Elliot 16u defeat 5 Star Basketball - Hoober 16u 78-70. 6'1" guard [player_tooltip player_id='2879163' first='Levi' last='Carr'] (Northview H.S. 2028) was the star for Indiana Elite - Elliot finishing with 21 points while 6'7" center [player_tooltip player_id='3581828' first='Karson' last='Gladhill'] (Edgewood H.S. 2028) and [player_tooltip player_id='3580460' first='Lucas' last='Toloday'] (Martinsville H.S. 2028) each added 13 points. However, it was 5'11" guard [player_tooltip player_id='3656209' first='Christian' last='Hardin'] (Elkhart H.S. 2028) for 5 Star Basketball - Hoober who led all scorers with 28 points in the loss. He was unstoppable off of the dribble all game long and connected on six three-point shots.

[program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] 16u Shines in Convincing Victory

It didn't take long at all for [player_tooltip player_id='2539928' first='Quintyn' last='Voltz'] (Princeton Community H.S. 2028) to make his presence known in this matchup. The 6'1" guard connected on his first three three-point shots of the first half and was scoring it from all over the court. He has a quick release when playing off of the ball, but also does a great job of creating his own scoring opportunities off of the dribble. Meanwhile, [player_tooltip player_id='2539932' first='Barrett' last='Rucker'] (Noblesville H.S. 2028) was imposing his will on the game early on as well. The versatile 6'5" forward scored inside, made a catch-and-shoot three-pointer, and drove with confidence to his right against closeouts.

[player_tooltip player_id='3579629' first='Kamran' last='Bell'] (Lawrence North H.S. 2028) was the next guard to really step up for [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] 16u. The lightning quick playmaker went end-to-end with such explosiveness and was really hard to keep out of the paint. [player_tooltip player_id='2797647' first='Gabe' last='Ioane'] (Warsaw H.S. 2028) made several nice plays around the basket as well in an easy victory over Legacy Ice - Hype 16u.

Voltz led the way with 18 points while Rucker and Ioane each chipped in 11 points for [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] 16u. Marchell Jackson (Pike H.S. 2028) finished with 20 points in the loss for Legacy Ice - Hype 16u.

Indiana Basketball Club 17u Continues to Roll Through the Spring

One of the best teams in the state this season has been Indiana Basketball Club 17u. They qualified for the 3SSB Championships in Rock Hill after an 8-0 run through Adidas Gold play. That strong play has transitioned right to the Prep Hoops Indiana State Tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140420' first='Nash' last='Sigmund'] (Decatur Central H.S. 2027) was excellent from three-point range as usual making five triples on his way to 19 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2907635' first='Bo' last='Washington'] (Pike H.S. 2027) played very well in their second game of the day too scoring 13 points and getting to the paint consistently off of the bounce. [player_tooltip player_id='2381200' first='Levi' last='Lindeman'] (Bloomington H.S. North 2027) was the star of their earlier win on Saturday.

[program_tooltip program_id='2847679' first='Refined' last='Indiana'] (NXT Pro) 16u Wins the Game of the Day

[program_tooltip program_id='2847679' first='Refined' last='Indiana'] (NXT Pro) 16u and [program_tooltip program_id='2400093' first='Indiana' last='Elite Team Tradition'] (3SGB) 16u played what had to have been the best game of the day at the Prep Hoops Indiana State Tournament. [player_tooltip player_id='2538910' first='Ashton' last='Reid'] (Park Tudor 2028) and [player_tooltip player_id='2859684' first='Evan' last='Magsamen'] (Noblesville H.S. 2028) were excellent right from the tip and helped to control a double-digit lead through most of the game. It was a high scoring affair with a lot of transition buckets and free throws, but for (almost) the full game it was [program_tooltip program_id='2847679' first='Refined' last='Indiana'] in control on the scoreboard.

That all started to change with just a couple minutes left on the clock as [program_tooltip program_id='2400093' first='Indiana' last='Elite Team Tradition'] trailed by double-figures. [player_tooltip player_id='2540063' first='Jaxson' last='Delaney'] (Cathedral H.S. 2028) and Nike Reed (Ben Davis H.S. 2028) were difference-makers around the basket to spark the comeback. Then, following a few [program_tooltip program_id='2847679' first='Refined' last='Indiana'] turnovers and free throws for [program_tooltip program_id='2400093' first='Indiana' last='Elite Team Tradition'], [player_tooltip player_id='2871458' first='Owen' last='Platt'] (Park Tudor 2028) tied the game with a three-point shots with just over 12 seconds remaining on the clock. Ultimately though that would prove to be enough time remaining for [program_tooltip program_id='2847679' first='Refined' last='Indiana'].

The basketball got raced down the floor, a baseline drive led to a help defender stepping up, and that left [player_tooltip player_id='2879842' first='Colton' last='Reffeitt'] (Carmel H.S. 2028) wide open under the basket for a layup as time essentially expired. [program_tooltip program_id='2847679' first='Refined' last='Indiana'] (NXT Pro) 16u ended up with a 90-88 win over [program_tooltip program_id='2400093' first='Indiana' last='Elite Team Tradition'] 16u.

[player_tooltip player_id='2538910' first='Ashton' last='Reid'] led the way with an impressive stat line of27 pints, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. [player_tooltip player_id='2859684' first='Evan' last='Magsamen'] added his second double-double of the day with 25 points and 15 rebounds with 4 assists. It was a total team effort in an impressive victory.

Other Notes From the Day

Sharpshooter [player_tooltip player_id='2538909' first='Tracen' last='Roush'] (Austin H.S. 2028) connected on five three-point shots and scored 23 points in a blowout victory for [program_tooltip program_id='2559412' first='Marlin' last='Academy'] (P32) 17u. He certainly looked very comfortable as a shot-maker while playing up a year.

Owen Graber (Lapel H.S. 2027) and Cooper Smits (Noblesville H.S. 2027) scored 19 points and 18 points respectively in a win for [program_tooltip program_id='2847679' first='Refined' last='Indiana'] 17u.

The Prep Hoops Indiana State Tournament 17u semifinals will feature [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''], Indiana Basketball Club, [program_tooltip program_id='2559412' first='Marlin' last='Academy'] (P32), and the winner over [program_tooltip program_id='2400093' first='Indiana' last='Elite Team Tradition'] and Primetime 219.

The Prep Hoops Indiana State Tournament 16u semifinals will feature [program_tooltip program_id='2559412' first='Marlin' last='Academy'] (P32) and [program_tooltip program_id='2847679' first='Refined' last='Indiana'] (NXT Pro) along with the winners of City Elite Panthers (NXT Pro) versus Indiana Elite - Elliot and [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] versus IBC Heat.

The Prep Hoops Indiana State Tournament 15u semifinals already saw [program_tooltip program_id='2559412' first='Marlin' last='Academy'] (P32) defeat [program_tooltip program_id='2559412' first='Marlin' last='Academy'] - Landis. They will await the winner of [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] and [program_tooltip program_id='2559412' first='Marlin' last='Academy'] - Carlson in the championship game.
