Week 2 of the AAU Season is underway and I was in the Fieldhouse at Warren Central for five games from the Recruit Look Indy Showcase featuring some of the top players in Indiana and beyond. Here are my 17u Standouts from Friday Night:

Arthur Boespflug | 6'6” | Wing | [program_tooltip program_id='2229551' first='Moss' last='Elite'] Hustle 2027

My first time seeing the 6'6” sharpshooting wing out of Kentucky. Good frame with a good feel on the offensive end. Moves without the basketball as well as any player I've seen so far. Scores it from all over the floor. Deep range with a smooth release from 3. Showed the ability to put it on the floor and finish at the rim as well as rise up over defenders in the midrange with a soft touch. Versatile defender that uses his size and length to his advantage. Rebounds well and doesn't let the ball stick with him.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140342' first='Chace' last='Ford'] | 6'3 | Guard/Wing | Progeny 2027 UA Grind

Got to see [player_tooltip player_id='2140342' first='Chace' last='Ford'] for the first time back in the fall at an open gym and loved his physicality. Coming off a good school season, Ford has continued to take progressions in the right direction. Jump shot was a question mark, but has developed a smooth release and shoots it with a lot of confidence. Thrives in getting downhill where he does a good job of seeking contact and playing on balance at the rim. Big time defender that's able to guard multiple positions. Strong rebounder at the guard spot that can rip and run off the defensive glass and turn defensive stops into points on the other end in a hurry.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560964' first='Edwin' last='Holmes'] | 6'7” | Forward | [program_tooltip program_id='2400000' first='Indiana' last='Elite Team Indiana'] 17u

It's not outlandish to say that if [player_tooltip player_id='1560964' first='Edwin' last='Holmes'] doesn't play as well as he did in the first half that [program_tooltip program_id='2400000' first='Indiana' last='Elite Team Indiana'] 17u doesn't pull out the win. The ultra versatile forward continued his strong play this spring by simply doing everything on the court. He knocked down perimeter shots, he rebounds at a high level, and has been a big time defender as a rim protector altering shots at the rim and just staying vertical. He makes winning plays anytime he is on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='2116874' first='Parker' last='Kern'] | 6'2” | Guard | [program_tooltip program_id='2400000' first='Indiana' last='Elite Team Indiana'] 17u

The confidence that [player_tooltip player_id='2116874' first='Parker' last='Kern'] is playing with is second to none. He's a heady guard that is capable of playing on or off the ball. He's a good ball handler that doesn't get sped up. He operates effectively in the pick and roll being aggressive coming off looking to score, but takes what the defense gives him. impressive shooter off the catch and bounce. He has smooth stroke with deep range. He plays on balance when getting to his spots and has been really effective in the midrange. Defensively he's a scrappy defender with good instincts. Thinks the game two plays ahead and always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

[player_tooltip player_id='2326411' first='Amontae' last='Lowe'] | 6'1” | Guard | [program_tooltip program_id='2229551' first='Moss' last='Elite'] Hustle 17u

The crafty 6'1” Guard had it going early and often in [program_tooltip program_id='2229551' first='Moss' last='Elite'] Hustle 2027's win over Team Tradition 2027. He plays with surpreme confidence on the offensive end. He came out hot from the three-point line and transitioned into being an unstoppable force driving the ball and getting to the rim. He thrives in transition where he uses his speed and court awareness to get easy buckets for his team. He drives it hard attacking the rim looking to make a play at the rim or to make the right read for a teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140389' first='Jaxon' last='McKain'] | 6'4” | Wing | Team Tradition 2027

The highly productive wing out of Southwest Indiana constantly put pressure on the rim early in Team Tradition 2027 loss to [program_tooltip program_id='2229551' first='Moss' last='Elite'] Hustle 2027 on Friday night. The physical wing is relentless getting to the basket and welcomes any contact along the way. Not the quickest or most athletic, but is able to get to his spots and rarely forces the issue. He's a willing passer looking to make the right play. Jump shot continues to be a question as he didn't take anything outside of 10 feet. He guards multiple positions and rebounds his position well with the ability to push in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id='2560647' first='Vincent' last='Nover'] | 6'2” | Guard | Progeny 2027 UA Grind

I've gotten the chance to see [player_tooltip player_id='2560647' first='Vincent' last='Nover'] a few times throughout the last few years and he impresses me every time. He has an unorthodox style to his game. He has a quick first step that helps him get in the lane where he has good athleticism to stop and pop in the midrange over defenders, or get all the way to the rim. He plays out of the pick and roll really well with good court vision. He's an unselfish guard that looks to push the tempo and is really good with the advance pass. Defensively he's active on the ball and does a good job staying in a stance and keeping his man in front.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140419' first='Max' last='Vise'] | 6'8” | Forward | Team Tradition 2027

The recent 4A State Champion out of Mt Vernon (Fortville) picked up right where he left off. The versatile 6'8” Forward was the best player on the floor and showed his versatility in Team Tradition 2027 loss to [program_tooltip program_id='2229551' first='Moss' last='Elite'] Hustle 2027. He got going around the basket in the first half driving closeouts and continued in the second half getting to the rim while sprinkling in perimeter jumpers. He continues to get more comfortable putting the ball on the floor and creating offense. He's a terrific rebounder that gets it done on both ends. He uses his length and athleticism to his advantage as a defender on the ball and when in help side. He's a great help side rim protector that alters shots without fouling.
