New to Prep Hoops in the 2025–26 season are Power Scores, a data-driven formula that accounts for win percentage, point differential, strength of schedule, and the overall strength of each classification. Every team in South Carolina receives a unique score based on these factors. This week, I'm diving into some of the best offenses in the state. These five teams are the five highest scoring offenses in the Top 25 of the Prep Hoops Power Scores Rankings, and a little look into what makes them tick.

James F. Byrnes High School - 1st in Offensive Points Per Game, 9th Overall

Checking in at the top with over 80 points per game, 4 points clear of the second-best offense, are the Byrnes Rebels. Nicknamed the "Runnin' Rebels", there is no team that plays faster, shoots more threes, or consistently scores more points than Byrnes. They are led by Junior Point Guard [player_tooltip player_id='1982890' first='Colt' last='Fowler'], who averages 25.5 points per game and 11 assists per game while loudly building a serious case for Gatorade Player of the Year. Both Fowler and second-leading scorer [player_tooltip player_id='2434057' first='Sukhi' last='Singh'] are in the top 10 in the state in made threes with more than 60, while [player_tooltip player_id='2687375' first='Fabian' last='McClintock'] cleans up all the misses with over 3 offensive rebounds a night. The Rebels have scored 90 or more points on 5 occasions, including a 94-point outing with 32 points and 16 assists from Fowler and 33 points on 7 made threes from Singh the last time out. The Runnin' Rebels are my current favorite to win Class 5A D1, and their high-powered offense is the biggest reason why.

Fox Creek High School - 2nd in Offensive Points Per Game, 19th Overall

In any normal year, this current Fox Creek offense would be the highest-scoring offense in the state. They average over 76 points per game with five players at nine or more points per game: [player_tooltip player_id='2313892' first='Chanze' last='Allen'] (14.2), [player_tooltip player_id='1986996' first='Kobe' last='Sims'] (13.6), [player_tooltip player_id='2414074' first='Justin' last='Vining'] (12.7), [player_tooltip player_id='2868864' first='Jason' last='Rogers Jr']. (9.8), and [player_tooltip player_id='2207644' first='Randy' last='Robinson'] (9.3). Among their four losses are two to local Georgia foes, as well as two losses to Byrnes. Since that second loss on December 27th, the Predators have won eight straight while putting up 80 on four occasions. That winning streak included a crucial 66-57 home win over region foe and defending Class 3A State Champion Keenan, giving them a foothold atop Region 4. The Fox Creek offense is clearly one of the best in the state, but they feed off their own defensive intensity in big moments. Keep an eye on this tight-knit group to be one of, if not the, last team standing in AAA.

Gray Collegiate Academy - 3rd in Offensive Points Per Game, 3rd Overall

The most balanced team in this list is Gray Collegiate Academy. They come in at #3 in offensive points per game and are #3 in this week's Prep Hoops Power Scores Ranking, ahead of a huge region matchup with #2 North Augusta on Tuesday Night. Gray Collegiate is on a 12-game winning streak, with it's only losses coming to Ridge View in the first game of the season and Davidson Day (NC) at The Bojangles Bash. Those happen to be their two lowest scoring games of the year, meaning they are averaging an impressive 77.2 points per game in wins. They have been dominating teams in region play, winning their last five by at least 30. [player_tooltip player_id='1560921' first='Levi' last='Ball'] is their go-to guy and one of the best players in the state, but the War Eagles even have guys like [player_tooltip player_id='2147147' first='Luis' last='Echevarria'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2373167' first='Makhi' last='Tyler'] who are having breakout seasons while still not maxing out their potential.

Greenville High School - 4th in Offensive Points Per Game, 15th Overall

Next up is Greenville High School, which puts up 72.4 points a night. They have as good a backcourt as you will find in the state - a big, athletic Point Guard, [player_tooltip player_id='1624061' first='Caden' last='Coleman'], and a knockdown-shooting Two Guard, [player_tooltip player_id='2027918' first='Tucker' last='Scholl']. [player_tooltip player_id='2404727' first='Gavin' last='Griffin'] has taken major steps this season and is the guy who mans the middle on most nights as a walking double-double. Their seven-man rotation is fluid, but it will always feature two difference makers off the bench. The Red Raiders have had a few hiccups as of late, hence the drop in the rankings, with losses to North Oconee (GA), North Augusta, and Hillcrest in the month of January. However, this is a battle-tested group that, if they get past the early-round challengers, knows how to win in late February and early March.

Ridge View High School - 5th in Offensive Points Per Game, 6th Overall

Capping off this list with the #5 offense in the top 25 of the Prep Hoops Power Scores Database is Ridge View High School. Since their 64-61 loss to Westwood on January 5th, the Blazers have been punishing region opponents, winning all five games by at least 20 points, including a 46-point win over Spring Valley in the first game after that loss. The return fixture is today, January 27th, and Ridge View will look to use their physically gifted and extremely talented offense to protect their home floor and get even at the top of the 5A Region 5 standings. The emergence of [player_tooltip player_id='2104388' first='Robert' last='Wylie'] as a prolific-shooting threat and the seamless fit of [player_tooltip player_id='1848083' first='Talan' last='Staley'] into the starting Point Guard role have been major wins for the Blazers this season, but when both [player_tooltip player_id='1982894' first='RJ' last='Davis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2373165' first='CJ' last='Moore'] are on, there aren't many teams in the state who can stop them.
