He well outplayed his ranking, putting up 18 points in a win over C.A. Johnson and 20 points in a loss to Dynamic Prep (TX). He had his fingerprints all over both games, turning up the defensive pressure to create havoc while also displaying a much-improved perimeter shot with 8 3PM across the two games. The only hint of a weakness shown by Staley was in the turnover department, but if this is how he will shoot it the rest of the season, his recruitment is about to blow up.

Staley had an impressive showing playing up with Upward Stars Columbia 17U in their matchup with Q6 All Stars. It was a tight but low-scoring game, and Talan contributed to the game-sealing play where he calmly broke the full court press and found an open man under the basket for an easy layup. He has good positional size and his length helps him disrupt the game on the defensive end of the floor. On the offensive end, Staley is a weapon on or off the ball with his playmaking abilities and his shooting efficiency. In the win on Saturday, he displayed a knack for seeing passing lanes as they developed, which helped him put his teammates in a position to be successful quite often.

While the defending 4A State Champs were shorthand for the weekend in Greenville, Staley was someone who stepped up and made an impact for the Blazers. He was good scoring off the bounce getting to the rack or pulling up from his spots in the mid-range. Staley also showed his ability to read defenses with several dump-off passes when opposing defenders rotated his way. Talan has good positional size and length so when he fills out his frame he will have a really good body for a High School Guard. In a matchup with Greer on Saturday, Staley had 12 Points and 4 Assists.
