What has Andover, Burnsville and Roseville playing well? We dive in today!

Three Up

Andover (8-2). While Andover was not our preseason pick for 7AAAA we did mention them as the potential deepest teams in 7AAAA and we are seeing that right now during their six game winning streak. The Huskies have a nice list of wins that includes Champlin Park, Brainerd and others. The CP and Brainerd games were at the Granite City Classic and Andover scored 90 and 86 points respectively. In the Rebel win, [player_tooltip player_id='2382253' first='Colton' last='Miller'] scored 22 points while [player_tooltip player_id='1936143' first='Caden' last='Roessler'] and Joseph Mapson each had 21. The trip had another 68 points combined in the Brainerd win with Roessler scoring 27. They also got five scores in each of those games from [player_tooltip player_id='2880414' first='Lane' last='Johnson'] plus [player_tooltip player_id='2844066' first='Tommy' last='Serakos'] hit double figures as well. This is a deep team that could win 7AAAA.

Burnsville (4-3). The Blaze may have more wins right now than some expected and they have done it with defense using some length, size and effort up front to limit teams to 60 points a game. They really opened eyes when they beat Two Rivers by 18 but this winning streak has included a 14 point win over Tonka and 20+ wins over Coon Rapids and Centennial. Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='2833380' first='Dereon' last='Barnes'] has really stepped up and 6'7 junior Connor McDeVitt as well as 6'6 senior [player_tooltip player_id='2403994' first='Yannick' last='Amoyi'] are all scoring between 13 and 15 a game. The Blaze have been a nice surprise this season and a ten win year might be something this team can hit!

Roseville (5-3). After a rough stretch of three losses in four games, Roseville bounced back to beat Como Park by a lot, and then they went to the Rochester area to knock off Century and Byron on back to back days. The Raiders are also doing it with defense allowing just 59 points a contest. Who has been a catalyst here? Another [program_tooltip program_id='2075449' first='East' last='Metro Bounce'] skilled player has bounced their way right into a great senior year start and that is [player_tooltip player_id='2822813' first='Carter' last='Brenden']. Carter really opened eyes with a 26 point game against Forest Lake and he is scoring 17 points a contest. [player_tooltip player_id='2880161' first='Micah' last='Wiskus'] has also played well this year with a high of another 26 against the Rangers plus a 25 point game in the winter over Centennial.

Three Down

Owatonnna (5-5). The Huskies started out great but have since lost four games in a row. The Huskies earned wins in five of the first six games and had some impressive spots but the schedule got tougher with Waconia, Faribault, and Lakeville South plus there was a 50-50 game that Owatonna lost to Woodbury that was a one point slug fest in the 40s (Woodbury is battling over there right now!). [player_tooltip player_id='2140710' first='Willie' last='Moore'] has had some big games for the Huskies and we think they will turn things around soon.

Shakopee (0-7). Maybe the biggest surprise in Class AAAA is the Sabers starting out 0-7. It was known they wouldn't be as good as they have so many new players but at the moment they aren't even scoring 60 points a game. They are one of the eight lowest scoring teams in Class AAAA hoops right now. The Sabers have played a tougher schedule that includes three teams that have been ranked and the games with Waconia, Tonka and Prior Lake were close. It doesn't get any easier with Wayzata and Eagan up next and neither of those teams have lost to a Minnesota team. [player_tooltip player_id='2126458' first='Luke' last='Schroeder'] is giving his team 23 points a game as a bright spot.

Champlin Park (2-9). You could somewhat see the Shako struggle coming, I don't think anybody saw a seven game losing streak coming for the Panthers. It's not just losing, this team has lost to St. Louis Park by 16, to Chaska by 20, to White Bear Lake by 26, and to Andover by nine. [player_tooltip player_id='2126450' first='Gavin' last='Walter'] having a hip injury has played a big part in the issue as the Rebels have not had him all season. [player_tooltip player_id='1560760' first='Kyler' last='Pust'] has stepped up to score 18 a game and this team may not have Walter but they have enough to be about three games better we thought.
