The Race for Mr. Basketball is heating up. Who is out in front? We break it down right now!

The Leaders

[player_tooltip player_id='1560778' first='Nolen' last='Anderson'] of Wayzata. Anderson has his [program_tooltip program_id='2075965' first='Trojans' last=''] at number one in state in Class AAAA as the best team in Minnesota. The Minnesota signed forward had a 34 point game against Lakeville North, 31 against Chaska, and 23 in the blowout win against Totino-Grace before taking a seat. Rough stretch in Wisconsin though with 13 points in the West Allis Central loss and a season low of eight against Nicolet. Averaging 22 points a game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560867' first='Christian' last='Wiggins'] of Wayzata. The Iowa State signed guard had been solid this season but not as much spectacular. He hadn't scored more than 20 a game in the Trojan early season roll until Wiggins went to Wisconsin and exploded. He put up 34 points in the Nicolet win and 23 in the loss to West Allis Central. Averaging 17.7 points a game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560882' first='Cedric' last='Tomes'] of East Ridge. Only a few guys on this list have to do all the playmaking for their team and of the ones that do, only Tomes, the Minnesota signed point guard, has to do it at the highest level. Tomes opened the season with 35 points against Lakeville North, he has a season high of 43 against Forest Lake, he had an efficient 34 in the two score loss to Maple Grove, and Tomes is scoring 30.6 points per game overall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560827' first='Kale' last='Misegades'] of Henning. Kale was the lone main rotation guy back for Henning's 24-25 team but somehow he has them at 8-0 on the season ranked third in state with wins over Pelican Rapids and Fergus Falls as headliners. Kale is averaging 33.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, 7.4 assists and three steals a game shooting 89 of 161 from the field (55.2 percent) and 28 of 60 at the arc (46.6 percent). Kale has a season high of 49 points on the season.

Next Up for Final Five

[player_tooltip player_id='2121332' first='Deron' last='Russell'] of Waseca. Deron opened the season with 48 points in a head to head match-up with [player_tooltip player_id='2118474' first='Ethan' last='Martin']. Deron also had 36 in the win over Lourdes and he had 44 points and eight boards against New Ulm. Also had 25 in the loss to LCWM and went over 30 scoring down the stretch to beat Marshall. Has the Jays on a five game winning streak.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560740' first='Dothan' last='Ijadimbola'] of Totino-Grace. Dothan has been at his best this year in the biggest games for TG. He scored 25 against CDH to get that win, had 27 to beat Hopkins, he produced 18 points helping TG get that one score win over Maple Grove, and in the loss to Wayzata, Dothan scored a team high 15 points. Headed to Drake next year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1550877' first='Jayden' last='Moore'] of Hopkins. The North Dakota signed guard leads Hopkins in scoring at 17.1 points per game and of course leads the team in assists with 9.2 a game. Throw in three steals and 4.6 rebounds and Moore is doing a lot for the Royals. Missing the Tartan game was tough and the team loss to St. Louis Park hurts as well but Hopkins has a ton of big games coming up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560868' first='Joseph' last='Mitchell III'] of Cretin-Derham Hall. Mitchell has been lights out this year for the top five ranked Raiders scoring nearly 22 points a game and making over half of the threes he's taken this year (averages eight threes a game and has made 35 of them). Also giving the Raiders 4.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists a contest. Had 24 points headlined by six threes in a big win over Alexandria on Saturday.

Battling for a Top Ten Spot

[player_tooltip player_id='2118474' first='Ethan' last='Martin'] of Belle Plaine. Ethan has his team undefeated and number one in class AA basketball averaging 37 points a game! Put up 43 in a head to head battle with [player_tooltip player_id='2121332' first='Deron' last='Russell'] in a game Belle Plaine won. They are playing Marshall right now in their first game in two weeks (postponements have hurt their dates). Had a 20 point second half to help his team beat New Ulm after dealing with first half foul trouble.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119578' first='Pierce' last='Petersohn'] of Triton. The Cobras are 6-2 with Pierce averaging 30 points and 11 rebounds a game so far this yearly. Pierce, a Virginia Tech football recruit, had 29 points in his most recent game against Cannon Falls.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560851' first='Hamze' last='Yusuf'] of Eden Prairie. The Eagles were one of the surprises of the early season undefeated through seven games and ranked in the top ten. They just lost to Rosemount suffering their first setback but Yusuf is scoring 26.8 points a game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560807' first='Isaac' last='Olmstead'] of Wayzata. Olmstead returning from a bad knee injury and playing the full season is one of the stories of the year. Can one team get three guys on the top ten list? Hasn't happened much before if at all, but Olmstead had that huge 27 point game vs TG and is averaging 14 points a game. Headed to UMD.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560739' first='Max' last='Iversen'] of Maple Grove. Max is scoring 16.4 points a game while leading his team in assists in the first month of the year. Iversen has the Crimson ranked third in state and they have a chance at playing for a state title this year.
