We are breaking down the conferences across the state previewing the upcoming season. Here is our look at the Chicago Catholic League!

Favorite

Lincoln Park

We are going to go with Lincoln Park as the favorite heading into the season. They have a veteran group with ball handlers, toughness, and defense. The depth really shines with this squad as well. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='2105399' first='Ahmad' last='Lee'] is going to be the go to scorer as the wing has a feathery jumper and crisp handle. In the backcourt [player_tooltip player_id='2734375' first='Jaylen' last='Dickerson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2436249' first='Ashton' last='Flowers'] will be a nice guard duo that can handle, score, and defend at a high level. [player_tooltip player_id='2831535' first='Larry' last='Harris'] brings the toughness as a forceful defender and rebounder. [player_tooltip player_id='2439327' first='Jalil' last='Amous'] is a fun player with a big body that can handle and be a playmaker. [player_tooltip player_id='2837979' first='Jayden' last='Townsend'] is an upside prospect. Their top prospect long term is 2028 small forward [player_tooltip player_id='2542413' first='Alvin' last='Robinson']. The top 20 sophomore is a two way wing that can slash and be a rangy perimeter defender.

Contenders

Whitney Young

The Dolphins have the best player in the CPS with recent Tennessee commit [player_tooltip player_id='1552475' first='Marquis' last='Clark']. The senior has been on the radar since he entered high school and now it is his time. Strong and productive guard who is coming off a good summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last=''] where he proved he can shine against top competition. He will have some solid pieces on the perimeter in juniors [player_tooltip player_id='2532358' first='Zaire' last='Green'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2125591' first='Caden' last='Crudup'] who they will look to for secondary scoring. [player_tooltip player_id='2986698' first='Mason' last='Spicer'] is a freshman lefty that might get some tick. [player_tooltip player_id='2455378' first='Ed' last='Williams'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2834050' first='Jaivyn' last='Richardson'] are two lead guards that can handle and dish. Up front [player_tooltip player_id='2323596' first='Noah' last='Emmanuel'] is the x-factor as they will need him to be an interior presence blocking shots and rebounding.

Curie

This is annually one of the best teams in the state with a great coach and the culture of the program. Their top player this year will be senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2734369' first='Justin' last='Oliver']. He had a breakout junior season last year with his ability to take over games scoring at a high levels in an array of ways. Leader of this team that others follow. [player_tooltip player_id='1845358' first='Michael' last='Oliver'] Jr will provide sharp shooting from three. While fellow senior [player_tooltip player_id='2823632' first='Kendall' last='Holliday'] is a bouncy forward that boards and plays off his athleticism. [player_tooltip player_id='2844456' first='Amir' last='Green'] and transfer [player_tooltip player_id='2734439' first='Keith' last='Collins'] bring front court depth. Upside of this squad might come with the microwave scoring from guards [player_tooltip player_id='2540149' first='Tobyus' last='Banks'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2877501' first='Malik' last='Horton'].

Kenwood

The Broncos lost a lot to graduation and with Cleveland moving to prep school, but they have a go to player in 2027 wing [player_tooltip player_id='2323622' first='Damari' last='Stephens']. The physically built wing looked the part this summer with his ability to take over games with his high-motor along with inside/out scoring. They will need him to post consistent big games. [player_tooltip player_id='2864914' first='Osiris' last='Bell'] is an intriguing lefty combo guard to watch out for. Up front [player_tooltip player_id='2376277' first='Prince' last='McCord'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2864911' first='Jumir' last='Aguda-Batie'] brings length, rebounding, and athleticism.

Sleepers

Perspectives Leadership

A lot of quality transfers here form what should be a team to watch. [player_tooltip player_id='1845364' first='Morgan' last='Travis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1874813' first='Jayden' last='Taylor'] are a strong backcourt that bring scoring pop! On the wings [player_tooltip player_id='2391336' first='Ian' last='Flowers'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2399236' first='Xavier' last='Porter'] have shown in flashes ability to take over games. [player_tooltip player_id='2439310' first='[player_tooltip player_id='2375418' first='Tristan' last='']' last='Howard'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1552412' first='Aiden' last='Horton'] will be key role players.

Crane

We think this could be a team that really make some noise this year. [player_tooltip player_id='2454169' first='Brad' last='Blackmon'] might be the best defender in the CPS with his length how he impacts laterally and vertically. Can also get buckets as well. [player_tooltip player_id='2125641' first='Jamier' last='Montgomery'] is a shifty ball handler that can break down a defense for himself and others. [player_tooltip player_id='2877327' first='Tarez' last='Terrell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2962322' first='Jarrett' last='Swift'] are also names to watch.

Lane Tech

The highest ranked big man among seniors in the CPS is Illinois State commit [player_tooltip player_id='2297870' first='Matthew' last='Szafoni']. He had a massive summer making big strides jumping up over 100 spots in the rankings. Face up forward that can stretch, handle, score in the post, and rebounds. [player_tooltip player_id='2436293' first='Cole' last='Christian'] is another name to know.

Simeon

There are a lot of unknowns with the [program_tooltip program_id='2076046' first='Wolverines' last=''] this season, but they do have some potential with transfer [player_tooltip player_id='2298580' first='Kaydin' last='Williams'] on the perimeter and [player_tooltip player_id='2323288' first='Isaiah' last='Coleman'] inside. Williams is a Lincoln Park transfer who is a tough bucket getter. Coleman is a rangy rebounder that also brings it defensively. [player_tooltip player_id='2532341' first='Keyae' last='Lacy'] is another transfer who has created some buzz. [player_tooltip player_id='2436956' first='Kamari' last='Hamlin'] is a big bodied wing that can shoot it from distance. [player_tooltip player_id='2864928' first='Jesse' last='House'], [player_tooltip player_id='2211161' first='Nico' last='Wright'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2877301' first='Jamal' last='Dixon'] should contribute.

Hyde Park

Once again Hyde Park should have a competitive squad! They are led by senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='2540031' first='Kye' last='Ward-Owens'] who will be looked at to carry the load on the perimeter. [player_tooltip player_id='2734383' first='Jacobi' last='Walls'] is a big body inside that rebounds and defends. Amare Leflore, [player_tooltip player_id='2963439' first='Keonte' last='Douglas'], [player_tooltip player_id='2962331' first='Lonnie' last='Mosley'], and Camarion Weathers bring depth.

Walter Payton

Young up and coming squad for Payton that will be pushed by 2028 combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='2531979' first='CJ' last='Pittman']. Strong bodied guard that can score and dish. Nice underclassmen guards next to him in [player_tooltip player_id='2396333' first='Sean' last='Souter'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2947403' first='Orlando' last='Bohlen']. Desmond Opoko-Ware and Patrick Irvin bring versatility up front.
