I caught Richardson play last year twice in prep hoops events as well as our showcase and the young WY dolphin continues to impress. Impacts the game both sides with instincts and feel. He seems to always make a big play at the right time. Defensively converted multiple steals into transition finishes. Has a nose for the ball and in the passing lanes. Silky and nifty at the rim. As a facilitator he will make tough passes look simplistic. Thread the needle a couple of times for dimes. An overall gamer with the rock in his hands. Proven in the final standings going 4-0 on weekend.

Jaivyn was doing a little of everything last night in a big win. He came up with a handful of steals throughout the game, including two within the opening three minutes of play that helped set the tempo for his team. He gets after it pressuring the ball defensively, and has good instincts to jump passing lanes. Offensively he has a flashy handle that helps him create in isolation, and did a nice job of getting his teammates involved. Good transition player who can keep it on his own or dump it off at the last second.

Richardson is a small point guard at 5’8” that brings a ton of flair to the game. One of his wow moments was a one handed bounce pass threading the needle to a cutting teammate for a layup showing off his passing. Late in the game we caught he had it rolling from three banging in four in a row including a heat check where he probably was fouled. Can really shoot it. Look for him to get some run in the Dolphins backcourt this year.

He continues to improve as a ball-handler, becoming more effective when attacking off the drive. In the open court, he delivered flashy yet precise passes that drew plenty of attention. What truly separated him, though, was his shot-making — capable of heating up quickly and knocking down multiple threes in a game. His ability to score in bunches makes him a constant focal point for opposing defenses and a dangerous weapon whenever he’s on the floor.

Silky smooth agile point guard that can really do some damage in space. Changes speeds and creates openings in the defense. Made a lot of smart decisions in the primary break phase by dishing off for assists or taking it himself. Knows the iq of his teammates well. Lets his 2 off guards handle it at times and he’ll fill the sidelines ready to shoot. Shot it at a high clip from long range and finished with a game high 22.

Jaivyn may have been the most entertaining player I watched yesterday. Listed at 5’8, he was the smallest guy on the court, but wasn’t backing down from anyone. He mixed flashy handles with a quick first step to get to pretty much anywhere he wanted to in the half-court. He could pull up for a mid-range jumper or floater, drop a dime in the lane, or go right at bigger players and finish over the top. He competes with an edge on both ends of the floor, and that toughness helped lead his team to a big win over Wisconsin PGC.
