Area Rankings: Top 10 2027 Prospects in Southeast Iowa

The top-ranked player in the state's 2027 class, Harrington is also a nationally ranked prospect who has already committed to play his college ball at Iowa State. He's a long, athletic wing who can score from all three levels, play with or without the ball in his hands, and control the game on the defensive end. He averaged 19.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 steals per game on 53-36-65 shooting splits as a sophomore and is primed to have a dominant junior campaign for the Lancers.     Harrington's top running mate will be Rus, another long, athletic wing who can score from all three levels. He moved back to Iowa last year after spending a few years down in Arizona, and he averaged 8.3 points on 45-45-70 shooting splits after shaking off a slow start to the season. With his size, length, and ability to shoot the ball, he's a player who is on the radar of plenty of college programs.     Putman is a ridiculously productive player on both ends of the floor, averaging 23.6 points, 12.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.0 steals, and 3.2 blocks per game on nearly 52% shooting last season. He's a bouncy, physical wing who can bully his way to the rim off the dribble, and he's excellent in the mid-range as both a shooter and a passer. A versatile defender with length and toughness, he can do it all on the hardwood.     A multi-sport standout for the Trojans, Bingham has put up video game numbers through his first two years at Pleasantville. As a sophomore he averaged 28.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. He's a plus-athlete who gets to the rim routinely, shoots it well from 15-feet and in, and can protect the rim defensively.     Few players in the state are capable of getting as scorching hot as Norris is, knocking down 10 3s in a game last season. He has in the gym range, a lightning-quick release off both the dribble and the catch, and the ultimate green light for the Panthers. With Knoxville losing three of their top five scorers to graduation, he'll have a chance to put up a ton of shots, and when you shoot it at the clip he does, why not? He averaged 16.9 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.6 steals per game on 45-42-70 splits last season.     Chance is going to miss his junior year after suffering an ACL injury, but when he's healthy, he possesses a blend of size, length, and athleticism that is coveted by college programs. He's a tough wing who can score from anywhere on the floor, and he has put in a ton of work to improve as a shot creator for his teammates over the last few years. He's a gamer who doesn't back down from anyone or any assignment on the defensive end, and there is no doubt in my mind that he'll come back stronger than ever in 2026-27. He averaged 19.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game as a sophomore on 58% shooting.     Church was great as a sophomore for the Muskies, helping lead the program to a resurgent season. He averaged 10.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game on 51-52-72 shooting splits. He has good size, shoots it well off the catch, and is a good enough ball-handler and playmaker to create quality looks for himself and his teammates off the dribble.     Gordon had a really nice sophomore year at North Scott, averaging 8.4 points on 43% shooting from the 3-point line. He's a quick-twitch athlete on the perimeter who can create plays off the dribble or knock down shots in bunches off the catch. He has a quick release, picturesque form, and is a strong on-ball defender who moves his feet well on the defensive end.     Fischer was one of the standout performers at our Expo earlier this month, using his combination of length, athleticism, and IQ to control the game on both ends of the floor. He's a skilled playmaker with the ball in his hands who uses his size to his advantage, seeing over the defense and finding open teammates. He's a bouncy athlete who can finish above the rim, and he's a tough on-ball defender.     Simpson is a talented shooter who can play with or without the ball in his hands. He has good size on the wing, a quick release off the catch, and can serve as a secondary playmaker with the ball in his hands. His length provides some versatility on the defensive end of the floor, and he contributes on the glass.
