Griffin Simpison had an all-around great game. He was great as a three-point shooter in this game, both off the catch and off the dribble. He was super efficient off the catch and showcased a very compact and fast release. He was also great at running off of dribble handoffs, slowing his momentum, keeping his mechanics intact, and remaining balanced as he pulled up off the dribble from deep, which he was very efficient on with these types of looks. His shooting threat created many hard closeouts, which he was very adept at attacking and getting to the rim. At the rim, he showed an ability to fly through the air, take contact, and complete and-1 finishes. He was also very impactful as a defender. He created many turnovers with his constant activity in the passing lanes. And he showed himself to be very switchable at his size, shutting down multiple positions and doing a great job all around defensively.

Simpson is a talented shooter who can play with or without the ball in his hands. He has good size on the wing, a quick release off the catch, and can serve as a secondary playmaker with the ball in his hands. His length provides some versatility on the defensive end of the floor, and he contributes on the glass.

Simpson first jumped out by holding down the court during 1-on-1 play, playing excellent defense and showing the ability to score in a variety of ways using the two dribbles he was allotted. His dominance continued into 3-on-3, and then he exploded during 5-on-5 play. A 6-3 wing with long arms, he’s a versatile defender who moves his feet well on the defensive end of the floor and contests shots on the perimeter. He’s an explosive athlete who runs the floor hard in transition and finishes above the rim with authority. He shoots it really well off the catch and is a capable ball-handler and shot creator off the dribble, and he seemed to gain confidence with every minute that went by.
