One can’t watch North Scott and come away without any notes on Harrington. The No. 1 player in Iowa’s class of 2027, Harrington is an elite athlete with bounce to throw down dunks with ease, soft hands to catch passes on back-door cuts, range to step out and shoot the three, strength to fight for rebounds and is mature on the basketball court.
Scoring 42 points against Linn-Mar, Harrington is easily one of the best scorers in the state, and the Cyclones are lucky to have gotten an early commitment from him. Long, athletic, bouncy, smart and way ahead of the curve in his class, Harrington was on pace to receive national interest in his recruitment before shutting it down and choosing TJ Otzelberger and Iowa State.

The top-ranked player in the state was sensational against Liberty in North Scott’s season opener, scoring 45 points on 16-28 shooting (2-10 3P, 11-12 FT), 14 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. His frame has really started to fill out, and he’s using that added strength to his advantage around the rim, finishing through contact routinely. He didn’t shoot it well from the 3-point line, going just 2-10, but the form is still pure, and he had a few attempts just rim in-and-out. A normal 3-point shooting night from him and he would’ve dropped 50.

showed his elite size, athleticism, and skill throughout this first game of the season. Josiah owned the paint throughout this game. His elite vertical and contact balance made him extremely efficient at the rim. His touch around the rim is soft on both his drives and post-ups. If he can get even a decent look around the rim, it’s going in. His elite rim pressure also made him amazing at drawing fouls. He is physical and his footwork is brilliant. This led to many free throws and efficient baskets, filling his shot diet. His bag of tricks in the mid-range is equally deep. He created heaps of space with his explosiveness towards the rim, and had no issue pulling up and making defenders pay with tough fadeaways that he creates with his fluid footwork. Defensively, he was probably the most impactful player on the court. He was elite as a perimeter defender and completely stonewalled opponents’ drives to the rim. He locked opponents up at the point of attack while also getting in passing lanes and creating turnovers. However, he also blocked shots and protected the rim for his squad as well. His length and explosiveness made him a constant deterrent in the paint.

The top-ranked player in the state’s 2027 class, Harrington is also a nationally ranked prospect who has already committed to play his college ball at Iowa State. He’s a long, athletic wing who can score from all three levels, play with or without the ball in his hands, and control the game on the defensive end. He averaged 19.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 steals per game on 53-36-65 shooting splits as a sophomore and is primed to have a dominant junior campaign for the Lancers.

A nationally ranked prospect who can score from all three levels efficiently, he put up 19.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 steals per game as a sophomore on 53-36-65 shooting splits. His calm demeanor, smooth playing style, and deceptive bounce remind me a lot of a young Keegan Murray.
