About Zane

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a small forward who can score at all three levels and consistanlty stretch the floor with deep shooting range. I work hard to achieve my goal of a 40% or higher average from the 3pt line while making smart plays. I'm a coachable, team first player with a strong work ethic and strong basketball IQ. I compete hard, communicate well, and adapt to both fast paced and structured offensive systems.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I separate myself through self discipline, motivation, and the work I put in when nobody is watching. I take pride in improving both on and off the court and never need to be pushed to work at my game, my mind, my body, and recovery. I appreciate the sacrifices and support my family has given me, and I stay focused on constant growth.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am on the presidential honor roll because my work ethic off the court matches my work ethic on the court. I am heavily involved in North Scott Community Enhancement, a non-profit that betters are community through projects, social interactions, and youth civic groups. I help with special olympics every year and host a free camp for those with special needs.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I worked for two years to raise the money to replace a worn down court in my community. Because the court was rebuilt to be ADA compliant, I was able to host a free camp for kids that have special physical and/or mental needs that limit their participation in other local available camps. This camp was by far my favorite to date and will happen again this coming summer.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

At 14 years old, I left home to attend prep school in AZ to grow mentally, physically, and academically. My time at AZ Compass taught me independence, discipline, and how to handle the pressure that comes with basketball and social media. After my younger bother became seriously ill, I returned home to support my family, it taught me resilience, perspective, and the importance of staying grounded.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college where I can major in business while making a strong impact on the basketball team. I want to be part of a structured program with coaches who value player development, accountability, and team success both on and off the court.

He moved back to Iowa last year after spending a few years down in Arizona, and he averaged 8.3 points on 45-45-70 shooting splits after shaking off a slow start to the season. With his size, length, and ability to shoot the ball, he’s a player who is on the radar of plenty of college programs.
