The high school season starts up next week and several Freshmen are expected to make major impacts this upcoming season. The early indications are that this 2029 class is extremely good. There are a few players who had D1 scholarship offers before they entered the high school hallways. This list is definitely going to change A TON over the next 4 years. And there are likely multiple players who will finish top ten in the class that no one on the Prep Hoops staff has seen yet. Here's a look at the top power forwards and centers in the inaugural 2029 class rankings. This does not include players who are in the top ten.

Patterson is a very intriguing prospect with good size and seems to have a pretty good motor. Like most bigs his age, Peter likes to float around the perimeter a little more than he should but he has flashed some perimeter skills. As a pure back to the basket post scorer, Patterson is one of the bigger prospects in the class and knows how to score around the rim. It looks like he may not be done growing yet, too. The thing that has impressed me the most in multiple viewings with Peter is that he rebounds the ball at a high level and tends to not back down against bigger, older players. Barely 15 years old, Patterson would be a good player to get some stock in now.

Eubanks is a good prospect with a strong frame who isn't afraid to throw his weight around. Brycen is a bruiser on the low block who excels at taking contact and getting to the free throw line. Blessed with great size at this age, Eubanks needs to continue developing perimeter skills in case he doesn't grow much more. Regardless, Mayfield's ceiling gets higher in the long and short term with Brycen's ability to anchor their defense and providing a good rebounder.

Looking purely at upside, Aaron could be a top prospect in this class. He's long and a fluid athlete at 6'7. While Huffman is not yet a great athlete, he looks like he is still growing into his body and getting the coordination that comes with young big men. A prototypical 5 man right now, Huffman excels as a rim protector on the defensive end. Assuming he has his motor running all the time, there may not be a better young big in Louisville's 2029 class than [player_tooltip player_id='2983291' first='Aaron' last='Huffman'].

Hayes is an interesting prospect on film but our staff hasn't had the opportunity to see him play live, yet. Very skinny, JD plays more like a wing than a big right now as he likes to play primarily on the wing and launch a bunch of threes. Playing alongside [player_tooltip player_id='2026991' first='Tyce' last='Jarvis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2529539' first='Andrew' last='Terry'] at Montgomery County, Hayes should be able to develop as a role player this season. His spot at 31 is a place holder for now and JD could be a much higher ranked player in the next update.

Another player who our staff hasn't been able to see live yet, Jennings is an impressive and imposing player on film. He's missed a lot of time in the last year with injuries but seems to be back and ready to contribute as a freshman for Coach Breeze's squad. Likely a starter this season, Truk is still 14 years old and pretty raw but as the oldest saying in basketball goes, you can't teach size. Keep an eye out for Truk at Adair County this season.
