The final career game for the 16th region legend, Spurlock left it all on the court on Thursday. Making tough 3-pointers to tie the game with five minutes and two minutes left in the contest, Spurlock knocked down some huge shots throughout the game. A physical player, Spurlock drew seven fouls throughout the game, getting defended very physically. Excellent high school career for Spurlock who had his future college coach in attendance today as it’s now onto the next chapter in his basketball career.

One of the best shooters the state has seen, Jacob has converted me into a fan over the years. When he was a freshman, some of Spurlock’s shot selection left me scratching my head. But as he got older, deep threes became like layups for him. Jacob scored a ton of points in his career and should end up doing the same at Youngstown State next year.

is a legitimate Mr. Basketball candidate and one of the premier shooters in the state, a distinction he’s held well beyond just this season. He ranks second statewide in three-pointers per game (4.3), ninth in three-point percentage (45.3%), and third in total made threes (87). Spurlock consistently creates his own shot, extends defenses with near-limitless range, and remains effective even with defenders closing hard. His ability to get shots off under pressure and convert at a high rate separates him from most perimeter scorers.

Spurlock is one of the top players in Kentucky and another name who should be mentioned in Mr Basketball discussions. It was funny because Spurlock went off for 34 points but it felt like his buckets mostly came within the flow of the offense. Besides a turnaround jumper to open the game and a couple tough shots that didn’t fall, basically everything else for Spurlock was either set up off nice actions in the half-court or out in transition in 3 on 2 or 2 on 1 situations. I was encouraged by how efficient Spurlock was and how his touches didn’t feel forced within the offense but he still got enough looks as one of the most talented scorers in the state. This was actually my first time seeing Spurlock in person since the regional final last season where he got injured, Spurlock also battled injuries in the summer but looks back to 100% with Boyd County right now.

could be the top shooter in the state heading into the season. He returns as the leader in three-pointers per game at 4.2 and ranks second in total threes made with 146, shooting 42.2% from beyond the arc. Spurlock has a smooth, quick stroke and, combined with his size, is able to knock down shots at a high rate. He shoots with confidence, and it doesn’t take long for him to get hot from deep. His ability to stretch the floor makes him a constant threat.

Spurlock is another player who has been out for a while with an injury. A big time shooter who isn’t afraid to pull up from deep, Jacob has committed to Youngstown State and is primed for a big Senior season if he’s back to 100% healthy.

Perhaps the best shooter in this class, Jacob has been consistent at the high school level for multiple years now. Jacob is in range once he enters the building and has been working hard to fix his defensive deficiencies. This June with Boyd County will be pivotal for his recruiting as Jacob has added multiple D1 offers each of the last two years during “summer ball” with his squad.
