Rattyfam Classic Standouts

Returning for its fourth consecutive year, the Rattyfam Classic brought together some of the state's most competitive programs and most promising individual talent for a slate of competitive matchups. Hosted at Roselle Catholic in Roselle, NJ, we got an opportunity to watch some early preseason action in which early summer transfers continued adjusting to their new teams, while players expected to step into larger roles gave us a preview of how they might perform when the regular season tips off this winter. From clutch performances to jaw-dropping highlights, let's dive into some players who made the biggest impact throughout the course of this past Saturday's action.    [player_tooltip player_id='2858267' first='Oscar' last='Martinez'] demonstrated his ability to be a dangerous threat from three point range. Martinez was aggressive in hunting his shot from beyond the arc and displayed his versatility as a shooter— knocking down open shots both off the catch and off the bounce. Martinez also demonstrated his versatility defensively as not only a switchable defender but also using his length and athleticism to alter and block shot attempts.     [player_tooltip player_id='1609109' first='Richie' last='Rosa'] excelled as a distributor of the basketball while also being effective as a perimeter shot maker. Paired with his quickness with the ball in his hands, Rosa displayed good court vision both in half court sets, getting deep in the paint and finding cutters and open shooters as well as in transition, finding open guys running the floor. Rosa also showcased the different ways he can knock down outside shots, hitting shots both off the catch and off the dribble.     [player_tooltip player_id='2917025' first='Prosper' last='Highlander'] was aggressive in scoring the basketball in their matchup against St. Peter's Prep. Highlander consistently got downhill and finished both with strength and craftiness at the rim. Highlander also excelled in transition putting constant pressure on the rim. Highlander possesses a tremendous motor paired with glaring athleticism, which was on full display throughout the entirety of Saturday's action.     A productive source of offense for St. Peter's Prep, [player_tooltip player_id='1595680' first='Mason' last='Santiago'] was effective not only as a scorer but a playmaker as well. Santiago was effective using his strong frame to attack the basket and get downhill and also knocked down outside shots. Santiago was also extremely effective creating clean scoring chances for his teammates both in the half court and in transition— whether it was spraying out to open shooters or advancing the ball up the floor in transition.     [player_tooltip player_id='1919211' first='Dorsett' last='Mulcahy'] exhibited his ability to be a versatile offensive weapon for Gill St. Bernard's. Saturday's action not only saw him create for himself offensively, particularly in the mid range area and getting to the rim but also spraying out to open shooters and hitting dump offs when he got in the paint.     [player_tooltip player_id='2884517' first='Dallas' last='Baldwin'] impressed as a floor general running the show at times for St. Peter's' offense and creating clean and open looks for the guys that he shared the floor with. Baldwin used his excellent court vision in combination with his quickness to get in the paint and distribute the basketball to open teammates. Baldwin also mixed in some crafty finishes at the rim flashing his ability to turn the corner when attacking off the bounce.     An absolute flame thrower from three point range, [player_tooltip player_id='2683648' first='Jayce' last='Rodriguez'] was aggressive in hunting his shot from beyond the arc. Possessing an ultra smooth and quick release with good lift on his jumper, Rodriguez showcased his versatility as a shooter— knocking down outside shots off the dribble, off the catch, and from deep range as well. Rodriguez also flashed some of his creativity off the bounce in the ways he looked to create his own shot.     Bryce McCray excelled as not only an offensive orchestrator but also a lethal shot maker from the perimeter. McCray did a good job of setting the table offensively when he shouldered some of the ball handling responsibilities. Shining as a dangerous shot maker from three point range, McCray showcased the different ways he can knock down shots from three point range— hitting shots both off the catch and off the bounce. McCray also thrived at pushing the tempo in transition and getting SHP to play faster throughout different moments Saturday afternoon.     [player_tooltip player_id='2201947' first='Anthony' last='Gonzalez'] pretty much lived at the free throw line during Saturday's action largely due to his aggressiveness in getting downhill and his ability to play through contact. Gonzalez was also effective as a table setter for Seton Hall Prep's offense, making timely and decisive reads, showing the ability to set up his teammates.     An effective combo guard, [player_tooltip player_id='2504780' first='Infinite' last='Sincere'] split time between shouldering ball handling responsibilities and getting guys involved in the offense and being a versatile perimeter shot maker. Sincere demonstrated his ability to be a good decision maker— initiating offense, making the extra pass, and making the right read in the PnR. An already lethal shot maker, Sincere was efficient knocking down outside shots off the catch and off the bounce in the mid range area.     Providing a strong interior presence for Colonia, Desmond Rudanovic demonstrated his back to the basket game in the low post while also showcasing his ability to crash the offensive glass and come down with rebounds. Rudanovic also flashed his floor spacing ability.
