Our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase is arguably the most popular event that we put on each year. Not only is it a great opportunity for our staff to get an early evaluation of some of the most talented freshmen before the begin their high school career, but it also serves as an important evaluation/recruiting tool for our state's many great AAU programs. This year we welcomed in over 100 of the best Class of 2029 prospects here in Indiana. Here are some of the top individual performers that our scouts identified from the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.

One of the few out-of-state prospects that made the trip to the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase, Amburgey quickly solidified himself as one of the best prospects in the gym. The 6'6" forward from George Rogers Clark High School in Kentucky is a very smooth, fluid athlete for his size. He found success driving it right in 3-on-3 action and was a consistent force both inside and out in 5-on-5 play. Amburgey is definitely a prospect to remember in the Class of 2029 in the state of Kentucky.

This 5'7" guard may lack some of the size measurables right now, but he makes up for it with fearlessness and a non-stop motor. Berryhill first stood out in 3-on-3 play as he consistently shot it in from three-point range and finished some crafty drives to the basket. His offensive skill set then transitioned to 5-on-5 play where he was once again a consistent playmaker. The Lawrence Central High School freshman was a standout in all facets throughout Sunday's Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.

Gold Jr. is on the short list of prospects that we had seen a couple of times prior to Sunday's Freshman Showcase. He was one of the standouts over the summer for [program_tooltip program_id='2076927' first='Indy' last='Heat'] 14u who went to the Jr. EYBL championship game at the Peach Jam in July. That is where we first had a chance to evaluate this 6'1" guard from Cathedral High School. He is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the freshman class and can really get hot from three-point range as he did in one stretch during five-on-five play at the Freshman Showcase. There is no denying the skill that he possesses with the ball in his hands.

Hampton caught our attention over the summer as he immediately carved out a role with Evansville Bosse High School in June. He looked the part at the varsity level at the Indiana University Team Camp and the Charlie Hughes Showcase. The 6'5" wing/forward shot the ball very well on Sunday at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. That level of offensive versatility and skill level makes him a very intriguing long-term prospect. Hampton is a fluid athlete that can fit into many different roles on both ends of the floor.

It is hard to find young big men that have the combination of size and some interior skill. Johnson is a massive interior presence that you can run plays for with the idea of him scoring it in the post. The 6'7" center absorbs contact, makes defenders bounce off of him, and stood out with his ability to finish with both hands around the rim. His footwork was very impressive for a young post player of his size. Look for Johnson to an immediate impact player for Delta High School. He is absolutely one of the top prospects in Indiana's Class of 2029 coming out of Sunday's Freshman Showcase.

You'll immediately be impressed by the athletic and physical tools of this freshman prospect when watching him play. Thoman has the look of a college-level tight end and he uses those physical traits to dominate on the hardwood. The Shelbyville High School prospect was very impressive on Sunday as a driver, slasher, and interior finisher. At 6'3" he was able to overpower a lot of his defenders and get to the spots he wanted around the basket. We wouldn't be surprised to see him as a contributor for Shelbyville sooner rather than later. He was definitely among the most impressive prospects at the Freshman Showcase.

Similar to Gold Jr., Tonagel is one of the guys we had seen before as he helped lead [program_tooltip program_id='2076927' first='Indy' last='Heat'] 14u to a spot in the championship game of the Jr. EYBL Championships at the Peach Jam. Tonagel also played very well for Oak Hill High School at the Charlie Hughes Showcase in June. The highly skilled 5'11" guard is an outstanding shooter, plays with pace well beyond his years, and is slippery off of the dribble when attacking the basket. He finishes with both hands at the end of his drives and creates separation for jump shots on the perimeter. In terms of skill level and production right now, Tonagel was arguably the most impressive freshman in the gym.

Between Sunday's Freshman Showcase and Sophomore ID Camp, Wilson was probably the most intriguing long term prospect in attendance. The 6'7" forward/center is an above-the-rim player on both ends of the floor. He was dunking it offensively and blocking shots defensively. He moves very fluidly for his size, especially for a young big man, and is just scratching the surface of what he can become. The Cathedral High School freshman is absolutely one of the top Class of 2029 prospects in the state.
