Whether you like it or not, transfers are a part high school basketball at this point. Some are obviously due to legitimate reasons. However, others are often motivated by athletic reasons. The IHSAA recently passed what, for all intents and purposes, is a one-time transfer rule which has made this off-season busier than ever. We here at Prep Hoops Indiana have no real dog in the fight in terms of the transfer epidemic and do not intend to play one side of the issues or the other. Our job is to simply evaluate the prospects. Where they go to school is of no real concern to us. Now that school is back in session and the dust has, mostly, settled let's take a class-by-class look at the impact transfers heading into the 2025-2026 season. We will now dive into the Class of 2026.

Since moving from Memphis, Tennessee to Evansville Bosse High School this super athletic 6'6" wing has picked up scholarship offers from Southern Indiana and Southern Miss. Bowen checks all of the boxes in terms of physical and athletic tools. We are excited to have him in the Hoosier state for his senior season as one of the best players down in the Pocket City.

Harris had a breakout sophomore season at Arsenal Tech leading them in scoring. Now, after playing his junior season at Crispus Attucks High School, the 5'11" playmaker is back with the Titans. He will have the ball in his hands a lot and will be in a position to once again be a go-to guy. Look for a big senior season from Harris.

From a statistical standpoint this 5'11" playmaking guard had a big junior season at Perry Meridian High School. Mathis averaged 15.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. Now he will suit up for Scecina Memorial who will look to make some noise as an under-the-radar team in Class 2A. It is fair to expect to see similar production from Mathis as a senior.

A Top 5 prospect in Indiana's Class of 2026, McGrew averaged 14.5 points and 8.2 rebounds on his way to being named a "Core" Indiana Junior All-Star. The 6'8" forward will now suit up for Fishers High School after spending two seasons at Lawrence North. Look for McGrew's recruitment to continue to heat up throughout his senior season.

Small college programs looking for a long, athletic forward/center should check in on the defending Class 4A State Champions and Mitchell who transferred in from Rock Creek Academy. Mitchell is super bouncy around the basket, goes to rebound with two hands, and has upside as a shot-blocker. He will step in and play a major role in the front court right away for the Red Devils.

One of the better pure catch-and-shoot threats in the rising senior class, Petty averaged 9.9 points per game as a junior at North Central before transferring to Lawrence Central for his senior season. His combination of positional size, length, athleticism, and shooting ability makes him an intriguing prospect for the college level.

Thomas should help move the needle for Mt. Vernon (Fortville) and help make them a legitimate state title contender in 2025-2026. The 6'5" wing is one of the best, most versatile defenders in the state of Indiana. He is super athletic, excellent in transition, and a tough right hand driver in the half court. It will be anxious to see where Thomas' recruitment winds up in the coming months.

Another outgoing transfer from North Central High School, this versatile 6'5" hybrid wing/forward landed at Brownsburg High School for his senior season. Woodward does a little bit of everything offensive and had an excellent summer with Indiana Basketball Club Select. He remains one of the top small college prospects in the greater Indianapolis area and certainly could see some scholarship opportunities come his way.
