High School Spotlight: Charlestown Pirates

The season is still a few months away, but it is never too early to look ahead at the high school season. We will be taking a look at some quick hitters, the top player(s), a potential breakout player, other roster members, and notable games for the upcoming season. He is 118-94 as a head coach.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Viewed as a strong favorite to make a run in Class 3A.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Player:&nbsp;[player_tooltip player_id='1922051' first='Anthony' last='Fresh']<a href="https://prephoops.com/player/jason-gardner-jr/"></a></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Arguably the biggest stock riser we have seen in the 2026 instate class is Charlestown's [player_tooltip player_id='1922051' first='Anthony' last='Fresh']. The super athletic 6'3″ guard averaged 20.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.2 steals per game for the Pirates last season which ultimately led to him being named an Indiana Junior All-Star. After having a strong summer on the AAU circuit playing with both Progeny and Midwest Basketball Club, Fresh will be coming into his senior season with offers from schools such as Grace, St. Francis, and D1 program Bellarmine. He will be a highlight reel type of player all season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Potential Breakout Player:&nbsp;[player_tooltip player_id='1560994' first='Parker' last='Odle']<a href="https://prephoops.com/player/justin-kirby/"></a></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Robin to [player_tooltip player_id='1922051' first='Anthony' last='Fresh']'s batman is also fellow senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1560994' first='Parker' last='Odle'], who we think is the breakout player of this year's Charlestown squad. A microwave type of score and one of the better catch-and-shoot threats in the state, Olde returns as the second leading scorer behind Fresh from a season ago with his 10.7 points per game as a junior. Odle does such a nice job of consistently always being a coring threat and taking the pressure off of Fresh as well.
