I attended a full day of basketball across the Lexington area, catching some of the top talent across the state of Ohio and Kentucky. In this article I'll break down the afternoon standouts from the first day of the live period event.

Few teams play an offensive style as fun to watch as South Oldham as they fire away from 3-point range at a rate that seems impossible. After being a complimentary piece to their offensive attack last season, Wuchterl is now playing a prominent role on their team as a featured option. Wuchterl has a quick release from 3-point range and has soft touch on his jumpers as well. Defensively, Wuchterl had a block and a couple of steals in the game I was at, helping spark transition opportunities. With his comfort playing as a featured player in such an advanced offensive system, Wuchterl should be able to translate to the college level offensively very easily. One of the best shooting wings in the Louisville area, I expect regional small college programs to be heavy on him this summer.

I was impressed with the senior duo of both Hutchinson and Jarrett Simpson, a big who made numerous impressive passes. I eventually decided to spotlight Hutchinson due to his versatility and ability to impact the game in a few different ways. Hutchinson was used as a play finisher, spot-up shooter, offensive rebounder and playmaker on Friday. Pretty hard to find small college wings that check as many boxes as Hutchinson does.

Male has been rolling this summer and they look like a state title contender with a nice mix of senior and sophomore talent on their roster. Clark is one of the familiar faces as the ultra-athletic wing made numerous plays in transition showing off his burst and explosiveness. Clark is not afraid to attack off the dribble and get all the way to the rim and his confidence helped Male break out of a few scoring droughts. A no brainer scholarship target, Clark is one of a handful of players who drew college coaches to Male games this afternoon.

One of the top prospects in Ohio, Mack-Russell was productive just using his athleticism and physical tools to make winning plays. With numerous offensive rebounds and finishes in traffic, Mack-Russell helped his team stay competitive with some of Kentucky's best. Mack-Russell also had some perimeter shooting flashes with one 18-foot top of key shot and another one dribble pull-up. If Mack-Russell can consistently hit perimeter shots and 3-pointers he will make an impact at the college level.

Frederick Douglass has a very talented roster once again with athleticism across the roster. Robinson provides a bit of a different dynamic as a guy who will impact the game on ways that don't appear on the stat sheet. Robinson ran the floor, cut within the offense, played well off star Demarcus Surratt and overall showed an advanced understanding of how to impact the game without the ball in his hands. College coaches are always looking for players like that and Robinson could be a favorite among regional programs.

Huber Heights Wayne played a really fun game against Taylor County that went down to the wire, Post impressed me the most on Wayne as his game has gone to another level over the past six months. An impressive mover for his size, Post can defend on the perimeter and make shots on the perimeter. A prospect who is currently trending upwards and continues to impress, I don't think it'll be long until college programs start really taking notice of his abilities.

Taylor County has a strong 2028 class and Stone made a handful of jumpers to keep his team competitive Vs one of the better teams in the Dayton area. What I liked most about Stone's game was his ability to play on balance on pull-up jumpers. Stone would get to his spot and rise up on balance and keep the same form regardless of how he got to his shot. If Stone can improve his lateral quickness with off-season training, he'll have even more space to fire away jumpers from long range. One of the top 2028 guards in southern Kentucky, you'll be hearing more about Stone over the next few years.
