A breakout prospect who had a big game at Rupp Arena in the state tournament, Kolton worked to impress plenty of college coaches this summer and should be in the mix to earn several offers this winter with a strong Senior year. Wuchterl has to continue to add bulk to his skinny frame but he can certainly be a really good D2/NAIA prospect.

Few teams play an offensive style as fun to watch as South Oldham as they fire away from 3-point range at a rate that seems impossible. After being a complimentary piece to their offensive attack last season, Wuchterl is now playing a prominent role on their team as a featured option. Wuchterl has a quick release from 3-point range and has soft touch on his jumpers as well. Defensively, Wuchterl had a block and a couple of steals in the game I was at, helping spark transition opportunities. With his comfort playing as a featured player in such an advanced offensive system, Wuchterl should be able to translate to the college level offensively very easily. One of the best shooting wings in the Louisville area, I expect regional small college programs to be heavy on him this summer.

Wuchterl had one of the best shooting performances in KHSAA Sweet 16 back in March, hitting double figure threes. Making his move up from 146th to 60th in the class and could keep moving up. D2/D3/NAIA schools should be checking out Kolton and his Kentuckiana Hoops squad as the roster is full of impactful prospects who can compete at those levels.

With solid positional size as a wing guard and the ability to knock down shots on the perimeter, Wuchterl checks a couple boxes that small college programs look for. While he knocked down a couple of 3-pointers in the game I caught, his most impressive shot was a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to go into halftime. I also was impressed with the actions Kentuckiana ran to get him open with some nice elevator screen sets to free him for looks. Quality small college target who also stood out at the KHSAA Sweet 16, Wuchterl is a clear stock riser over the past two months.

I’m not sure how many more impressive heaters I’ve seen in a state tournament game than what Wuchterl did on Friday afternoon. Knocking down 10/13 from long distance, the rim looked as wide as the ocean for Wuchterl. I thought

did an excellent job of swinging the rock and using his gravity to set his teammates up, he finished with a game-high 12 assists. The highlight of the game came when Wuchterl saved a ball from going out of bounds and got back inbounds to launch a corner 3-pointer from almost behind the backboard that went in nothing but net, the perfect play to capture the magical performance he had. Defensively, Wuchterl was also valuable at the top of South Oldham’s 1-3-1 pressure as his length caused a few turnovers.

Call it recency bias but Wuchterl just hit 10 threes in the Elite 8 at Rupp today and has shot nearly 50% from three this season. Kolton is a long wing who has a quick release and knows how to work to get open and can get shot ready in a hurry. Wuchterl is riding a wave of momentum into the weekend at Rupp and on to the NXT PRO circuit with Kentuckiana Hoops .

Seems like South Oldham always has a roster full of 6’2-6’4 shooters and Kolton is right in that prototype. Wuchterl is a good shooter who I’d never seen before Saturday’s event in Louisville. He’s a nice looking Sophomore in an 8th region that seems to be pretty wide open this season. Kolton could be an X factor.
