After losing more than a half a dozen of contributing seniors to graduation, South Oldham’s 8th region expectations won’t be as high as they were last season. That is unless a relatively unknown underclassman can join forces with 2028-star Joaquin Siakam Joaquin Siakam 6'5" | SF South Oldham | 2028 State KY and 2027 Adrian Miles Adrian Miles 6'0" | SF/SG South Oldham | 2027 State KY to form a legit big 3 threat. Now enter Jacob Dehaas Jacob Dehaas 6'3" | SG/SF South Oldham | 2029 State KY , a 6’4″ shooting guard that can fill up the stat sheet and score at all levels. I got the chance to watch him a few times this past summer with 502 Elite and what I saw was a kid that thrives in the open court, is comfortable playing above the rim, and can make contested jumpers in the midrange and from deep. His breakout campaign could be on the horizon.

This past weekend was my first time getting eyes on Dehaas and I was thoroughly impressed by his production. He has good size at his position already and appears to be growing still. With recently evolved athleticism, he’s able to score from anywhere on the court, including above the rim. His accuracy from long distance, however, and his ability to get to the rim off the dribble might’ve been his most useful weapons this past weekend. Dehaas’s shooting mechanics are smooth and will only get better as he matures. He’s also a confident playmaker with the ball in his hands who’s capable of changing pace and direction to get past defenders. As 502 Elite 15U’s leading scorer, he notably dropped 27 PTS versus a really good KY PRO16 team in a one-possession overtime loss on Sunday morning. Definitely a high-upside kid to keep an eye on.
