Class 3A Player of the Year: 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2413531' first='Cael' last='LaFrentz'] (Decorah)
Stats: 29.2 points, 12.7 rebounds, 3.7 blocks, 65.4 FG%, 72.5 FT%

The 6-11 son of former NBAer Raef LaFrentz was dominant for a Decorah team that spent a majority of the season ranked within the top 3 in the class. His size, talent, and length make him a force in the paint on both ends of the floor, blocking nearly four shots a game and averaging nearly 30 points a night for the Vikings.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765515' first='Jaidyn' last='Coon'] (Storm Lake)
Stats: 23.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.7 steals, 1.7 blocks, 55.7 FG%

The most sought after prospect in the state right now, Coon put together a fantastic junior year for the Tornadoes, helping lead them to the state tournament for the first time since 1994. An explosive athlete who can score from all three levels, his ability to create quality looks for himself and his teammates off the dribble, as well as defend multiple positions, is part of what makes him such a valued player in the eyes of college coaches.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1759905' first='Luke' last='Frazell'] (Waverly-Shell Rock)
Stats: 28.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals, 57.1 FG%, 46.0 3P%, 84.3 FT%

One of the state's elite shooters, Frazell was sensational as a senior for the Go-Hawks, nearly leading them back to the state tournament with an almost entirely new-look roster. At 6-5/6-6, he's able to shoot over his defender, and his range is limitless.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1978130' first='Hudson' last='Lorensen'] (ADM)
Stats: 24.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.0 steals, 53.6 FG%, 42.0 3P%, 88.3 FT%

One of the most pure scorers in the state, Lorensen makes everything look effortless on the offensive end. The lefty can get to his spots whenever he wants, both off the dribble and off of good off-ball movement, and he's nearly automatic in the mid-range.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2398061' first='Blake' last='Aalbers'] (MOC-Floyd Valley)
Stats: 20.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 2.7 steals, 49.0 FG%, 45.4 3P%, 85.7 FT%

The captain of the all-tournament team and leader of the state champion Dutchmen, Aalbers is another elite shooter who wants to have the ball in his hands in the big moments. He routinely buried big shots at the state tournament, and it was something he did all year for MOC. He was also a pest on the defensive end, averaging nearly three steals a night.

Second Team

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1381416' first='Thomas' last='Meyer'] (Clear Lake)
Stats: 17.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.6 steals, 65.3 FG%, 50.0 3P%, 69.3 FT%

The future Iowa tight end was a force on both ends of the floor for the Lions, who came painfully close to an undefeated, state title, season. He's a tremendous athlete who showcased some real talent on the hardwood, with great footwork and strength on the block, and a smooth stroke out to the arc.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1978100' first='Jaxon' last='Clark'] (Keokuk)
Stats: 22.7 points, 14.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.1 blocks, 66.7 FG%

One of the best pure big men in the Midwest, Clark put up massive numbers for the Chiefs as a junior and is garnering significant college interest for his ability to control the painted area on both ends of the floor.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1668669' first='Landen' last='Norris'] (Knoxville)
Stats: 20.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.7 steals, 59.2 FG%, 35.3 3P%, 83.2 FT%

Knoxville entered the state tournament undefeated, reaching the state tournament for the first time since 2000, and Norris, and his younger brother [player_tooltip player_id='2231637' first='Lincoln' last='Norris'], were the biggest reasons why. A talented 6-3/6-4 lead guard who took over games as a scorer and playmaker on a nearly nightly basis for the Panthers, he posted great efficiency numbers, played strong defense, and was a key contributor on the glass.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1381408' first='Zach' last='Driscoll'] (Decorah)
Stats: 20.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 2.3 steals, 47.8 FG%, 37.3 3P%, 90.7 FT%

Driscoll paired with LaFrentz to give the Vikings the best one-two punch in 3A this season. A really talented scorer and playmaker, his 179 total assists were second most in the state this season, regardless of class.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1484410' first='Ryan' last='Watters'] (Central DeWitt)
Stats: 15.8 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.4 steals, 1.3 blocks, 55.4 FG%, 45.3 3P%, 74.4 FT%

Unfortunately for Watters, his season ended in practice leading up to the state tournament, suffering a hand injury before the Sabers could take the floor in Des Moines, but he helped lead them back to the state tournament with his dominant play in the paint on both ends of the floor. The athletic 6-7 forward can protect the rim, stretch the floor, and finish at the bucket with efficiency.
