Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
The other big scorer for the Dutch, Schulte is averaging 16.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game on 48-36-76 shooting splits. He’s a better perimeter shooter than McGuire and is capable of getting red-hot from distance at any point in time. Like McGuire, he has consistently improved his ball-handling and shot creation, not only for his own looks, but for his teammates as well.

Schulte was a great 1B to McGuire’s 1A against Keokuk, scoring 22 points on 9-19 shooting (3-9 3P, 1-1 FT) with 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. He showed that he can score from all three levels, and do so both off the dribble and the catch. He got to the rim for finishes routinely in the halfcourt and in transition, was a force on the glass, and showed that he can create looks off the bounce for his teammates. What stood out the most against Keokuk, however, was his work on the defensive end. He showed the ability to guard two through five against the Chiefs, getting some opportunities against Clark and holding his own, and he was strong on the perimeter defensively, moving his feet and contesting shots.

Schulte is a talented wing shooting threat who knocked down 35% of his 3-point attempts as a junior while ranking second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.9 points per game. He moves really well without the ball in his hands, finding spaces in the defense to get his shot off, and he has a quick release off the catch. He has worked to continue to develop as a ball-handler, providing some secondary playmaking off the bounce.
