took over when the Dutch needed him most in the quarterfinals against Carroll.
Looking completely down and out for the majority of the first three quarters, McGuire commanded the ball and scored at-will in the paint in the fourth quarter, putting up 24 points on a wildly efficient 10-of-14 shooting from the field, adding eight rebounds and two blocks for Pella. With soft touch on finishes — either with a floater or hook shot over defenders — McGuire scored with ease against a Carroll defense that boasts one of the top shot-blockers in all classes.
Half of Pella’s dynamic one-two punch of scoring threats, McGuire is an extremely efficient 6-5 wing who is averaging 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game on nearly 65% shooting. He has turned himself into a viable 3-point shooting threat, but is at his best when he’s operating in the mid-range as either a scorer or playmaker.

showcased his elite versatility as a big man in this game. For starters, Jack displayed a very perimeter-centric and skilled game, which is usually not seen in players of his stature. His footwork and dribbling were both graceful in this game, and he used these skills to spin around defenders and stretch out for tough finishes around the rim. He was elite at getting to the paint in this game, and he showcased soft touch around the rim. His constant presence in the paint allowed him to draw many fouls in this game, as he was a matchup nightmare for Waukee due to his versatility and size. He has guard skills, and he is a perimeter shot creator. He even broke down a defender off the dribble and hit a three in their face. He did all of this while being an extremely impactful rim protector and perimeter defender. He blocked many shots in this game and anchored Pella’s defense.
